A German outlet is dumping the stock. The box is with the chrome old fond emblems for a rock bottom price. The emblems alone are worth more. The book too.

I don’t think these are genuine. My understanding is that the welcome box was built exclusively for the first edition model, i.e, 125 bikes vs 125 boxes as an example and everyone that bought the first edition back then, was given the box as a welcome gift. As a rare item, some people sold them to make some money. I bought one purely because the copper batches and the book, the rest is not for me. Looking at the baseball cap, they are all black with the logo and letters in white. The one on the site has red and gold? The emblem on the belt buckle looks different and cheap compared to the one I have in the box. What I am trying to say is that there are people out there selling fake items and even fake websites. I got bitten no so long ago by a fake Costco website, bought a boat rotary polisher with pad and carrier bag that never came. Tried calling the number and it was in Asia and never a response. Contacted Costco and they told me it was a fake site. Looking at the website again I can see the minute differences now.

Whilst I would tend to agree on the fakes.
Looking at the registration details of the website and looking at the history of the owners. Along with the location in Erding, Munich, and some additional comments in the about section I would not be surprised if this is either some ex BMW folks or people involved in the BMW logistics side. Lots of links to BMW folks in one of the owners online profile.

It is a genuine set. Yes it is different, méant to be different form the FE set. This is the sécond gift set meant for the 100 years edition. The roundels are chrome with the vintage BMW font. There is mention and photo of the set on here in a ´wellcome box´ thread.

The box and sit get good reviews on the German R18 forum.

I have bought a set to go with the First Edition set. Not having an FE stops me from donning either the cap or the belt. Not a cap fan anyway but the more generic Big Bruising Boxer belt which I think , I will wear.
The book will make a very nice present.

Take It Or Leave It; it is meant as a heads up for you guys :-)

That’s not a fake. lol. I purchased a 100 years edition R18 from a large dealer in the Midwest. This is different and separate from the first edition box with the copper roundels. I also got one of these 100 year boxes at the time of purchase. It is identical to the one pictured. There is also a letter from BMW in the box. They are worth about 100 bucks that’s it. Once in a while they show up on eBay. Cool stuff really. The book and hat and roundels are all quality. The roundels have old style script that matches old models. Nice to have with the bike.

Glad to hear that. I was not criticising anyone, I was not aware of a second FE batch memorabilia.
I was just highlighting awareness as I was bitten before on a fake site that looked and felt like the real deal, that was all. Enjoy 👍

Depends a bit on how you experience having the R18 of course but as far as value for money goes, it is dead cheap at the 49.99€. At that price it even makes a good present for basically any BMW afficionado friend because it is not exclusively connected to the First Edition.

Several here on the forum have more than one R18 and than it makes an even nicer to have with them bikes.

I bought the First Edition box for the bronze rondels and the 100 years box so I can wear the belt, give away one book as a present and use one rondel for the engine cover. That looks better imo and also leaves me a bronze one for a potential future sidecar.

Bóth rondel versions btw have the vintage font. BMW linking those freebies to the First Edition and the 100 years is telling imo. Those bikes are generally speaking for the more retro aware/appreciative of the R18 buyers.

I just bought one! I have looked for a backup emblem set a while ago because im always afraid that the ones on the bike are going to get stolen on day. This seems like a good price

Have not looked at the parts prices but I think it a safe bet that the box is a cheap way to buy three rondels ;)

Wow! Where did you get the other copper items? Or did you electroplate them? One of the most beautiful R18 I’ve ever seen. Pleas give more details on your build.
I agree that is special, well done
