I ran a pigtail to the right side and hid it behind the cover. Positive got attached to the jump pin, and negative to the screw for the tool cover panel closest to it. But mine is a FE, so way less electronics involved. I'd be more careful if I had the B or TC...
This is how I do it. It is a direct connection to your battery. It bypasses all circuitry having to do with canbus etc. I use a NOCO GENIUS 1 charger. Totally automatic. On sale now, $23.96!!! https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GENIUS1-Fully-Automatic-Temperature-Compensation/dp/B07W46BX31/ref=sr_1_1?crid=IDRQQAPHIGO8&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.K6wLSFeFIRZCcjQwifeQkVXzTyC4YqAFfP2BHbhsrTGOYjvdWdGDxSLoDEAAEnREGzO0-6YbumzMt4jtTBS35KyGZxleKPwbD9cfYRLqNbL_LP3AmTFQMh_FJb5Zn_gA7KOLRBWRkLSurlBgkffnuQc5nYpFLZBrHfUnkQ1MaDnjxhgZvxTZhbMTdfS-VBKAPWEtFRSZVu7q9rriC3V_fb5CiIcZpjZcVxLKmIhv70GYF5_kd3BxUkkq-JVl7e0Pj5VCU1NHBXufb3sm2zEI_ZHdlgjsWegdNDrkpPIK8pk.wtqxkHZOxtdu6GYRvlX166YoeGOB2S_jG7RnD6UwUls&dib_tag=se&keywords=NOCO+GENIUS+1&qid=1759941255&sprefix=noco+genius+1,aps,85&sr=8-1&th=1

Look under the rhs valve cover. Apart from sturdy also very handily located assured proper ground connection.
Sry, I wasn’t clear - I meant a battery tender pigtail. Was looking for a permanent ground on the right ride of bike.

There is a screw under the right side cover that I use to ground my charger pigtail and I attach the positive lead to the jump start positive point. Its easy and I leave the pigtail there all the time. Just attach the charger when needed. I did use my multi meter to confirm the negative ground screw is grounded and that the positive is always on. You do not have to touch the battery, these connections are stock. The two torx bolts in this pic. The left one is the positive jump start terminal. The torx screw to the lower right is where I attach my ground wire, and you can see my pigtail to my chargerBMW R18 JUMP START TERMINAL.jpg
