2022 R18 TC & 2024 GSA Trophy
Greetings from Vacaville CA - USA. Just got a screaming deal on a 2022 TC. I also own a 24 GSA. I’ve owned several BMW’s. The TC is in the shop getting some work done and a thorough inspection. Got the TC cause my wife didn’t like the GSA as a passenger. Truth is, I don’t like two-up on the GSA either. I’ve always liked the TC and wanted one. I love the beast. Big grins when I ride it! Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome aboard!
We used to live in Santa Cruz, and many years ago, in Vacaville & in Vallejo. There's access to great riding all around there!

My experience is similar: after 20 years (!), my wife no longer likes riding pillion on the 1150 GS (we're in our mid-60s). I ended up purchasing the TC and we both love the bike. I have the GS set up for 2-up riding but the TC is, of course, more comfortable. I have more storage space on the GS but then, we travel light so the TC's storage is fine.

I hope you enjoy the TC as much as we do!

You guys are lucky to have wives who still ride with you. Mine no longer does as it conflicts with her golf schedule. So as a non-golfer, I ride solo and have set up my R9T and R18 with single seats. I agree that NorCal has great riding but I’d love to move from Marin County to Monterey as the cooler weather is better for riding. That recent survey in the WSJ suggested that San Diego had the best overall weather but I think the area around Monterey and Santa Barbara is perfect. Enjoy retirement, guys. I’ve been doing it for 15 years and riding more each year...

Man, you guys in those riding areas that allow you to enjoy it year round are so fortunate.

Up here in the Toronto area we got a few inches of snow yesterday. I went out for a couple of hours on Saturday when it was still chilly but do-able.

I'm afraid that may have been it until April.

LBV, I know! After over 40 years in California the last time, 5 years ago we moved from California to Pennsylvania, back to where we grew up. We had our first snowfall today. Coincidentally, this morning the BMW dealership picked up my bike for it's winter service.
I enjoy the riding here in PA but the California Central Coast riding opportunities, and year-round weather, definitely were better!

You´d love it out here. Drivers/riders heaven over a well maintained infrastructure through a beautiful country with milennia of history under 300 sunny days /year.

And wives... my first wife (22 years together) was a fanatical motorcyclist whom had a fatal racing accident. My second long term relation lóved riding pillion for yéars but things changed, did not want to anymore and after 24 years we split. Currently (1.5 year ) with a 17 years my junior who will happily jump on the back of ánything. Time will tell how that works out.
The red thread being not luck but choice. Am 69 going for 70 ;) and having ticked a lót boxes in my life can do without aggro. Carpe diem because memento mori .
Same thing why I went partial early pension at 45, opting for less money and more quality time, moved to southern Spain.

Petrus, life is a grand adventure or...
An acquaintance I worked with in California (and did one epic ride with 3 others, criss-crossing the U.S.), moved to Portugal after retiring. I would have done similar but wife was not interested in being an expat. Fortunately she is still interested in the pillion experience!

Agreed! That’s why we want to move there. Love that Northern coastal weather!
