Chicago Suburbs: winter purchase??? yep...

BMW R18 Roctane, BMW R1250GSA, Honda Super Cub, Triumph Speed Four, Yamaha RD60
I couldn't resist. I went to Cycle Werks in Barrington in 2023 to look at an R18. Left with a deposit on a GSA Trophy Edition. Love that bike, but still hadn't scratched that itch for the R18... until yesterday afternoon. Pulled the trigger on this beautiful bike:IMG_9858.jpeg

Beejeezus how dó they come up with that?!

Doubt though it is called like that for the EU. More likely ´satin titan´.

Congrats btw.
Where have you parked it? Somewhere you can see and enjoy it over the winter?

On a side note, the key off current is deceptive and will drain the battery. Sign of the electronics times though.

Anyhow; ENJOY!!

I'm paying to keep it at the dealer (they didn't want to hold onto it) until the weather breaks and I can bring it home... The battery info, good to know. Thanks for the tip!
 
I turned my alarm system (called AWS) off so there's less drain from that even though it's plugged into an Optimate battery tender in my garage ... no one wants to steal an 800 lb cruiser anyways.

I’m happy with the deal. Prices are pretty good on a bike that is about to be 2 model years old…

A great colour and the name is the same in the UK.
 
Brilliant choice, congratulations. So much character and a real pleasure to ride.

On the paint finish I had a bottle of the Harley Davidson Denim paint cleaner left over and that is great for detailing this paint without ruining the finish. Anything with wax in it will just gloss it but on the plus side you can ride without worrying about dust showing within a mile it seems to just hide road dust etc.

funny you say that, it looks like it will be easier to keep looking nice, even if it's not perfectly clean. Sitting next to the same model in gloss black, I love the way the black looks too, but just though it would be too hard to keep it clean and scratch free. The little spider-web style scratches in the clear coat are so easy to make with a light touch of the bike, and they are way more visible.

I am very happy with this decision right now. I hope I don't regret it in the future. The nice thing about black is that it's easy to match with accessories, add and accent trim piece, etc.

I'm hoping to get a break in the weather in January to go pick it up.
