R1200S. R18 Roctane
Hi there - just pulled the trigger on a new Roctane - seems to be a number of new or demo 23 models here in Australia for incredible prices so who am I not to take advantage of that. Also have the R1200S when I feel a little more sporty - lets the mods begin - all the best everyone.

Welcome from just over the border. Was only looking on bikesales a few weeks ago and might have seen this one at a great price (cheapest in aussie).

That it was pal - could hardly afford not to buy it - I’d been looking at them for a while so the timing was good - not like me to have a good win.

Stop teasing and greetings from W.A…. So what price did you pick it up for?
We had a new ‘25 at Auto Classic in the same colour for $25k out the door, but I ended up going for a new Blacked Out edition standard in Brooklyn Grey.
These bikes are tremendous in every configuration and Noelpolar has good Aussie advice about ‘stuff’.
This is a great forum that will increase the enjoyment of your ownership. These guys/gals certainly have done so for me.

2023 model - It was advertised for approximately $16,888 ( AUD ) with 27km on the clock. Bargain. He may have negotiated less !

That is insanely cheap!
No far west tax!

There seems to be a relatively simple "cheap" rule for "new" R18's if one isn't overly fussy (colour etc)..... that is: 2 year old "demo", normally less then 200km on them, most of them rego'd late half of their second year on the floor (so 4 and a bit years warranty at worst still left) then priced about 60-70% of retail on the eastern sea board..... this one was an outlier on bike sales last month (ie extra cheap).

The funny thing is some people will walk into an Indian dealer this year and pay $35k for what they could get for $20k or less in a BMW "clearance".

Adelaide is a bit like Perth.... one dealer and "tight" prices.... I normally buy new from the east and get it shipped back.... caravans/motor homes are the same.

Nice one. I lived in the eastern Melb burbs for 5 years, and could have seen myself with that bike if still there and R18'less!

It’s very true about the West and one dealer. I go on Bikesales and see some amazing prices and when I’ve hit the dealer up here, I get the “We can’t do that, I don’t know how they can”.
It costs at least about $2k to transport/inspect/licence and stamp duty if you want a bike sent here, but I had a trade in so it wasn’t an option. I will give my dealer credit for giving me about $1500 more than I expected, but the deals over east are still far better…. Because then I’d have a red Roctane sitting in my garage.
Congrats again.

Yes that’s the one I purchased - I kept asking “what’s the catch” but so far so good. I generally keep my bikes long term so I’m not really worried about future trade in prices & the like. The dealer has stopped selling bikes as he kept losing his bike mechanics - just BM cars now. I checked out his remaining apparel & he has a lot of BM helmets & riding gear to move so if anyone needs that type of item hit them up.

My brother in law did exactly that - recently bought a Indian for $36k - granted it’s a beautiful bike but he could have bought a 18B demo for around $20k - I always liked the HD road king but no way would I drop $40k on that - so to get what I believe is a better equivalent for $17k - well I’ll call it a nice win.

No, let’s call it a ‘Brilliant Win’… well done sir 🏆🥇🎖️

It will be interesting (for me) to see if the R1200S becomes neglected a bit now. I have a R9t that was the goto bike but now I end up choosing the R18 9 times out of 10.

Welcome, great choice and you picked up a great deal. I did similar towards the end of last summer on a Classic, BMW pushed a number of unsold bikes to dealers around the country and allowed them to discount massively to reduce their warehouse stock. Having owned many bikes including Harley’s the quality and uniqueness of the R18 is on top of the list. Enjoy.

I suspect you may be right there but I love it - service it myself & couldn’t bear to part with it & it’s only a few years away from being able to club rego it.

Wow, the r18 gets no love down under and is being steeply discounted! Didn’t realize this was a worldwide phenomenon. Thought it was only us Harley loving Yankees. Beautiful color.
