Is it true that the space the filter is in is very tight and some filter wrenches won't fit in? My first change on this bike. I have had it done before by a small BMW/MOTOGUZZI shop, not dealer, near here. The reason I don't want to buy the BMW filter wrench is I want to install the K&N filter with the hex head. I assume the BMW wrench is pricey for a single use.

The filter in my pic worked fine for me. It was bought at a BMW dealer in Kansas City but interestingly enough it says "Illium Works" on the other side.

I'll take a pic of the other side. I noticed immediately the Ilium Works lettering. It was odd because I was at Engle motors in KC and assumed they would sell me a BMW labeled oil filter wrench.

I switched to K&N (with the socket tip) because even with a good oil wrench I still had a lot of trouble getting them off--just doesn't grab that well
