Roland Sands Gear shift / Rear Brake “warning”

Ok, not really a warning but an FYI. (Edit, wrong part number in bold)

I installed the RSD Gear Shifters and floor boards. The floorboards are ok; they are a little smaller, which I hope won't be an issue. Here’s the warning. The RSD rear brake pedal does not include #9 in the diagram, part# 35 21 8 392 734 Spacer Bush. (Wrong Part #) I don’t know why they don’t include, but they don’t. The instructions say install a NEW bearing bush, and you’re not getting the old one out without destroying it. Not in stock locally, has to be ordered from the East Coast warehouse, and I believe the rest are in Germany. No big deal, I’ll just put the old lever back on until the part arrives. That’s all

An update in case anyone tries to do this. The bushing I listed above is the incorrect part. I’ve ordered the following which looks like it’s going to be correct.

Qty 1 - Bushing. 35 21 7 721 100… (#9)
QTY 2 - Bushing. 23 41 7 674 079… (#8). <<<<<<Edit - Didn’t need these on my R18B, only the other bushing #9.

Mmmm. This is interesting. I’ve just installed the RSD boards and levers to my R18B. I got the dealer to send me the workshop instructions for fitment.
Bushing 9 was a bit of a pig to fit into the brake pedal but managed it with some careful and light persuasion.
A pair of plastic bushing 8’s as per the above diagram was provided with the installation kit but there is no mention at all in the instructions as to where they are used and no reference to them in the relevant diagram for that particular stage of the installation. So I didn’t use them.
When you get your parts and get round to installation could you please let me know how you get on and perhaps some photos before I dismantle mine to see if these bits are indeed required.

As above - they confirm fitting of the bush (9) inside the brake pedal pivot aperture but no mention of the two plastic rings (8).
I took the offside floor board off and disassembled the brake lever. The plastic rings (8) are too small for the aperture and even if they did fit - the shouldered bush (6 on the first parts diagram above but is the same part number across the R18 range) would not fit. The shouldered bush (6) is a snug fit inside (9) and there is no way that the plastic rings will fit in combination. So God knows what they're for?

You are correct. On my R18B, I didn’t need the two bushings 23 41 7 674 079 which is nice because they are $17.26 each :-O

I really like the RSD stuff for the R18 range - especially now that BMW appears to be charging a more realistic and affordable price for it.
However what I don't get is why (where necessary) it is all supplied with allen headed bolts / screws when the entire rest of the bike has Torx fasteners as standard?
The recently installed footboards are a point in question. The fronts possibly not as important as the underside faces down to the ground but on the passenger boards when folded up, they stand out like tits on a bulldog.
Possibly a bit OCD but I've replaced them with black stainless steel torx fasteners of the appropriate size. I've also done the rider's boards as well. Obviously

After seeing this post I checked my install and sure enough there was more wiggle than there should have been in my RSD front brake pedal--I didn't realize the spacer was missing. I finally got around to pulling my old brake lever out to try to remove that spacer, wasn't going to happen--completely fused together. I then looked in my parts bin and realized there was a new spacer (perfect size) in a separate parts bag I purchased for a spring I needed (Part# 77 25 1 687 678). It's supposed to be the assembly kit for the floorboards but it actually has some very useful spacers and parts to have around. I was glad I had it as I was really going down a rabbit hole trying to order a spacer in the exact size this needed.
