After about two weeks and just under 1000km of trouble free breakin riding in nice weather, I headed out in light rain and wet roads to participate in a fundraising ride when my new 2025 R18 transcontinental threw a red flag warning stating "serious fault in the engine control. Riding at mod. speed pos. Damage pos. Have checked by service provider."

I stopped, contacted dealer, started bike and code cleared, Igot it in and they checked it all out and test rode it. Got that all clear to go but they said it didn't show a code at all?

I was worried wondering if it was maybe rain related thinking what will happen next time! Well I got pounded hard with rain later that day heading home! The good news? No codes or faults from the deluge of water thankfully!

Thoughts? Has anyone else experienced similar?

Any chance, do you own an OBD-II tool that would allow you, to scan for any fault codes?

Any updates, did the issue ever return; perhaps, could it be related to the fuel pump overheating due to a low fuel level in the tank?

Looks like the B and TC variants are more prone to these errors in the wet - I am now drying mine after washing it so that water doesn't mess the electrics..

But the fact that your error cleared completely I think confirms that it's a temporary issue most likely caused by water ingress. I'd monitor it though.

I'm dealing with a engine control warning myself but mine seems permanent, wet or dry.

I don't want to JINX my Model B; however, I've found myself "reluctantly" in some really heavy downpour situations, and luckily without any such errors or faults..

I have now doubled the mileage and in both wet and dry weather with not so much as a hiccup, all good!

I do have a diagnpstic tool at home but have been staying at camp since before the issue and didn't have that tool. The fact the dealer said they ran diagnostic check and the bike didn't even show a code at all so I'm pretty sure if I did a check it wouldn't show anything.

So I am writting it off as a glitch and won't be as worried next time especially if the bike is running and sounding normal, and would try the power off to see if it clears shortly after.

Just to throw in my 2¢ ... more often than not a good OBD tool will show past codes even if they are not present anymore ...
But then there is the notion of 'If it ain't broke ... don't fix it'

Ya the dealer hooked into the bike and said it didn't even show a code on the day of my fault warning at all.

Very odd ... but oh well, as long as it is gone ... WooHoo!!
