Anyone had this problem ready for a great run out guess what my fuel cap will not unlock on my 2022 Classic any help guys as i do not want to damage my tank.

Damn. Not much help but empathy. I would expect the lock is dirty and not broken. Google “gastank lock won't open with key” for some cleaning tips.

Fwiw in my 66 years on this planet I have yet to encounter a need to have my fuel tank locked. Lucky I guess.

I presume you mean the key won’t turn rather than the lock mechanism is broken? WD40 or a light oil like 3 in 1 dripped into the key slot would be my suggestion. Can’t imagine why it would physically break inside on its own, makes no sense. Hope you sort it.

Does your 2022 Classic have a BMW Motorrad lockable fuel cap, like the ones on the Transcontinentals? Not sure if I'm correct but I understood that the 2021 R18s and R18 Classics had fuel caps without locks? The lockable fuel caps on the Classics were part of one of the factory build packs?

I ask because the locks on the TCs can sometimes be a bit finicky, and the swivelling cover can be a pain. My thoughts are that its best not to lock them at all - on the TC they are covered by the compartment lid anyway and therefore out of sight and out of mind (and away from prying fingers). If they do lock, you need to swivel the circular cover out of the way, put the fob's key blade into the lock, hold the cap very still, and turn the key anti-clockwise until you hear / feel the click (bit more of a thunk really) and no more, then let go of the fob completely, and then carefully unscrew the cap (anticlockwise) without touching the fob. If you nudge the key or allow it to turn further in the lock, even a smidge, it will re-engage the locking mechanism and you need to start over. I had to get the Motorrad gurus to show me how it works and even they found it tricky.

On the other hand, if your Classic doesn't have a lockable cap I can't help - sorry.

Here's what's in the TC Rider's Manual, for both versions of the fuel cap:
