Here in the USA, it was the Indians that had tom toms, more of an in your lap style drum... good around a campfire
I know, I had them in mind when I googled ‘Tom Tom’s’.
I’m still perplexed as to how Native Americans came to be called ‘Indians’… so is 93% of Indians in India.

Native Americans are called "Indians" due to a historical miscalculation by Christopher Columbus. When he arrived in the Americas in 1492, he mistakenly believed he had reached the East Indies (the islands of Southeast Asia) and therefore called the Indigenous inhabitants indios. Despite the navigational error, the misnomer endured for centuries.

Hunts, what is up your picture? Scared me, if she was now part of the forum, I would have to consider signing off... LOL

I sincerely appreciate the explanation, because it had me stumped.

Man , I’m Australian and don’t actually give a crap about this chick as I know very little about her (and don’t want to know), but someone else had President Trump as their avatar and I think that this entire forum should be ‘Politically Exempt’ as we all agree on one thing, regardless of political affiliation.
I’ll change it soon as it was not meant to offend, just create conversation.
I don’t even really like our Prime Minister and even if I did, this isn’t the place.

Just a little joke. I did not mean to offend either and yes this is not a place for politics....

Hi has anyone wired in a tom tom 550 rider on there R18 , as i,m electrically challenged any help will be appreciated .
It looks like the TomTom 550 only requires a two wire setup; opposed to a three wire, which would be 12V constant power, 12V ignition sense and of course the Ground connection.

Search the forum for folks who have already wired similar devices to "Switched" power, which is basically a power source that becomes available once the ignition is turned to the ON state, and stays in the ON state while the bike is running. Looks like the RED colored wire from the TomTom literature.

The BLACK colored wire will go to the Ground, which on the R18 is mostly going to be BROWN in color; you will find a switched power source and a Ground connection at the same connector.

Depending on which R18 Model, there's a couple of spots (Front Fairing, under the Fuel Tank and under the Seat/behind the Side Panels.

For those who are not wanting to hunt for wires and cut into the harness may I suggest: Wunderlich Connector

I used the one for the accessories socket extension and it works really well. simple to install and no wire cutting
