Motoscan and the dreaded wrench icon

R18 FE (Factory Roland Sands Edition), 2017 Indian Scout Icon Edition
I reset my service indicator with Motoscan and the LX tool but my service wrench is still on. The date and time on the bike are correct and the service mileage and date are well in the future. I read that someone suggested BMW has a software update that fixes this. However, I called the dealer and they are not aware of a software update that addresses this problem. Before I have to ride over an hour to my dealer on the worst freaking interstate in Florida, I'm hoping someone has a fix!

Whilst I've never heard of the issue.... AI says:

To successfully reset your BMW R18 service interval, first update your OBDLink MX+ firmware using the OBDLink App. Open the MotoScan App Pro/Ultimate edition on Android, connect to the Instrument Cluster, navigate to "Service Reset," enter the desired future mileage and date manually, and click "Reset".

If the MotoScan reset is still failing or throwing errors, it is usually due to one of the following reasons:

1. License RestrictionsMotoScan's Lite or Basic versions do not support service interval resets. You must have the Professional or Ultimate license for the reset commands to work.

2. Manual Date and Mileage Input RequirementThe R18's instrument cluster often rejects a generic "one-click" reset. In MotoScan, when you open the Service Reset menu, you must manually define the upcoming service date and distance/mileage. Both fields must be filled correctly before you press the execute/reset button.

3. Outdated OBDLink FirmwareThe OBDLink adapter requires updated internal firmware to properly translate the R18's newer CAN-bus communication protocols.Plug your MX+ into the motorcycle or an OBD power source.Open the official OBDLink app on your phone.Go to Settings -> Firmware Updates to check for and apply any available updates.

4. Bluetooth or App InterferenceEnsure that no other OBD apps (like Torque Pro) or devices are running in the background, as they can cause Bluetooth dropouts during the ECU handshake. Always pair the OBDLink MX+ inside the app itself rather than purely through your phone’s generic Bluetooth settings.

If you find that the software and adapter combination continues to refuse the reset, the next best diagnostic alternative is the GS-911 tool, which is specifically optimized for deep-level BMW motorcycle service resets.For tips on navigating through the MotoScan app interface on your phone to find the exact service reset menu and parameters:
 
As an addition, I've tried the 1-Click method (Supports only suggestion 🙄) and, as above, individually changing the date and mileage.

Do you mean to then pull the battery out? I haven't had much luck trying it once or twice so left well enough alone and connected accessories to the remote terminals instead.

No just disconnect the battery cable running from the battery to the terminal under the RH side cover. That will disconnect the battery from the system.

So I asked the dealer about this, and he said it probably wouldn't make much of a difference. However, if I was going to do it, just leave it out overnight and see what happens. So I did, and nothing...
 
Same Motoscan software?

Edit: Never mind. I looked it up. Holy cow is that expensive!

Disconnect the ( - ) Negative terminal.. an easier alternative, you can pull the 50A fuse.

I wish I had some insight to this issue; the GS-911, clears the Service Reminder icon directly after executing the reset function.

Did you purchase the Pro Version or Advanced Features; see the below thread, you may need to throw another $26 bucks at the tool:

So, I have an update. I got the wrench service icon to go away. (At least for now)

I decide to run through each service reset setting again, one by one. This time I started with the current date (which was correct when I did the service so I didn't bother with it). I pressed the button and it reset the icon. No clue why. So far it has worked for 2 days and several power cycles/engine starts. Hope it sticks...

Yep. Support said to use the "one-click" method only. What worked for me was to, one at a time, click each of the buttons and back out. Rinse and repeat.
