Greetings from Socal. I live near the Pacific Ocean and the salty air is munching my chrome. Its a never ending battle applying chrome polish / protection. Some parts are already pitted. Curious if this is a problem for those of you away from the coasts?

Fwiw.... I live near a salty coast in a "Mediterranean climate", now I'm 50 paces from the waters edge. I've sealed my shed and run a dehumidifier 24/7. Condensation during winter is the biggest issue here.... most condensation advice leans towards "venting" which only makes sense if the air outside isn't salty. For salty enviroments it's seal the shed, keep humidity <60% etc.

Using a ceramic car wash solution when washing your bike will help somewhat as the ceramic is hydrophobic and will repel moisture. Using a ceramic detailing polish will also help for the same reason. I live right on the coast near Monterey, CA and I have no issues with rust or corrosion. Also about 3 times a year after cleaning my bike I spray it down top to bottom with Corrosion Technologies Shine and Shield and then use microfiber towels to wipe it down. This also reels moisture and keep all the painted surfaces, rubber, plastic and vinyl parts looking like new.

I spray and wipe down the entire exhaust system over the Winter season with ACF-50; I also remove the heat shields, clean, spray and wipe down the back side of the pieces - where I try to maintain a very lite film or coating during the off season.

I've had aircraft owners/mechanics recommend the following, it might be worth a try:

Corrosion Technologies - Corrosion X

I've used CorrosionX for years - works great on electrical connections and is a decent lubricant. It is dielectric so it is safe for any electrical items. It also is a great penetrant for rusted hardware.
