Hi All,
Thanks to all for such helpful tips across the R18's platform. I have one however that doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. I have the R18 Classic with around 2000 miles on it. Ever since it was purchased new, I've noticed that the rear brake pads will squeak or squeal at slow...
Woo-hoo! Bike is back and after the service updates, no more whine! It's such a better ride. I don't think BMW did a proper job of marketing how unique this bike sounds. The little ticks of the shaft spinning are almost meditative.
Bike is back from the shop. They said that there was a service update that addresses the bluing issue. They are now checking if BMW will replace the pipe. Am I incorrect in presuming that the pipe shouldn't be showing so much wear after only 1000 miles? Seems like a warranty issue if they...
Welcome to the exclusive club! Love the look of the RSDs! I loved the bike ever since they announced it back in 2019. It was tough being #3 on the waiting list but man was it worth the wait!
Yes! They confirmed for me that BMW has a PUMA for it: Service Bulletin S1 13 07 21 -- loud/noisy fuel pump. Unfortunately, because the dealer had a power outage right after I arrived, they were hesitant to install the updates because there were 18 of them and it could be 30 minutes or 4...
So it is really odd then to have only 1 pipe bluing at 600 miles. They found that BMW has released 18 software updates and the bluing condition may be addressed in one of these. I have to take it back next week for the update because they don't know how long it will take.
Thanks to all for the suggestions. I just dropped the bike off at the dealer for it's first maintenance and brought up the fact that only 1 pipe is showing the bluing. I'll let everyone know comes out of it.
I also got mine on 11/2020 before the update. Coincidentally, I'm at the dealer right now and brought up the fuel pump whine. They never heard of it and he said nothing showed up in their BMW service database about it either. It may not have made it to the States yet but it would be helpful...
In scheduling my bike for it's first 700 miles maintenance, I mentioned the whine issue to the BMW Dealer Service Tech. He said that they have sold 70 R18's and no one has reported that issue. Annoying that this isn't getting more notice from BMW...
True! However, a lot of folks have mentioned, me included, that they didn't start hearing the whine until after the 500 mile mark. I distinctly remember around that mark that I seemed to be hearing cars or trucks around me with the whine, then it suddenly occurred to me that it was coming from...
Hey all, I learned from the NMOTO Customer Service admin that NMOTO is seriously considering an R 18 bolt-on kit that will look just like their R Seven T. Time frame was end of the year. In order to make sure it happens, I suggest forum members send query emails in to their site at...
Yep, it's amazing how much heat is dispelled off those jugs. I have a 1999 F650 and it's like riding around on top of a sauna. What's really interesting too is that after a good ride on the R18 (they're all good  ), you can put your hand relatively close to the radiators and feel very...
