    Choices for a motorcycle cover

Try “PURCHASE15” for 15% off. It’s old but it might still be valid. Also I think they send you a discount code if you sign up for their emails. I’ve used their indoor covers on my R18 Classic and now on my TC and they’ve worked well for me. Good luck.

Security - What do you do to lock up your R18

I ended up getting an Abus 14mm 6FT Maximum Security CHAIN with the Abus 37/80 Granit padlock https://lockitt.com/Abus-14mmchain-3780lock.html last year when I had an R18C. I traded in the R18C for a R18 TC which is what's in the picture. The cast wheels are way more manageable for using a...

    Lost Wireless key fob

From another thread somebody suggested and I tried needle nose pliers to hold the key under the TC seat. That worked well.

    Tire pressure monitors for R18?

Sorry I don’t have the FOBO anymore. I thought it was great. As someone said before it’s totally independent of the bike. It works with an app on your phone.

    Key Fob/Battery issue

Such a great idea. I made sure I tried this approach holding the key under the seat near the sensor using needle nose pliers on my TC and it worked! There was no way I was going to reach the sensor with my key using my fingers. Also the TC seat is too thick to register the key by pressing it on...

What did you do to your R18 today?

David, The saddlebag guards are available here: https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/wunderlich-bag-protection-bars-r18-bagger-transcontinental.html Best, Tom

    Dropped your R18 yet?

I feel your pain, literally. I had my TC for 6 days. I went to get it inspected and pulling into the parking lot of the station there was a crater I didn't see which I hit just as I stopped. The bike bounced left and I was surprised to have the 940lb beast heading for the pavement. It took...

What did you do to your R18 today?

I gave a detailed wash, claying, swirl/scratch removal, polishing, surface prep to remove previous chemicals and installed a ceramic finish. Total time between 6-7 hours. It was tougher to do than I thought it would be. I can see where I made some mistakes with high spots on the ceramic coating...

OEM Engine Guards and Wunderlich Bag Protection Bars

So here are a few beauty shots of the completed job. You can see how the top mount of the redesigned bars fit. To answer the question the 30mm (M8 x 30) Fillister head bolts worked fine on the passenger floorboards (Part number 07129907381) as a substitute. I didn’t need the 35mm bolts. On an...

OEM Engine Guards and Wunderlich Bag Protection Bars

OK. It was a guess and it worked. You twist the oval connector while you pull it apart after you remove the connector from the plastic clip that attaches it to the fender. That’s the first picture. There are a few other things I wanted to say. On the rectangular connectors on each side are...

OEM Engine Guards and Wunderlich Bag Protection Bars

So I got the Fillister bolts and I’m working on installing the bars now on my TC. I’m going to post some pictures of taking apart the connectors once I’m done since I’ve had a little trouble getting them apart. I’m down to taking apart one last connector before I start taking the bags off. One...

BMW OEM Screen Protector Install for R18 Bagger / Transcontinental

So I broke my protector too trying the shortcut method of popping off the bezel to slide in the protector. The glass on the protector is very thin. If someone could elaborate how they slid in the protector past the bezel when it’s partially popped off that would help if I decide to try it...

OEM Engine Guards and Wunderlich Bag Protection Bars

I made a slight correction. Looking at the Wunderlich install instructions I wasn’t thinking that the washer was needed for the foot rests with the longer Fillister bolts. However, I think the washers are needed to keep the footrest flat because the extra 5mm thickness of the bars under the...

OEM Engine Guards and Wunderlich Bag Protection Bars

Thanks Dave! I think I found the part we need, a BMW M8 x 30 bolt with a Fillister head. It so happens the brake lever for an R18 has that part. I found it looking through the part assemblies shown on the Max BMW website. I ordered a set, part number 07129907381. Hopefully the bolts are in...

OEM Engine Guards and Wunderlich Bag Protection Bars

Varg, Did you end up replacing the bolts with BMW Fillister Head bolts? Did they work out? Can you please share the size/part number you used? I have a set of the bars incoming. Thanks, Tom
