What did you do to your R18 today?

Well. I tried a couple phone mounts, but am really nervous about vibration damaging the phone.

I installed a RAM mount.

Here it is with a RAM X-grip holder:

Here is the vibration profile with the X-grip:IMG_3587.jpeg

And I tried a vibration isolation holder from Hondo Garage:

Here is the Buzz-Kill vibration isolator profile:

They are about a 15 second sampling, starting the bike and then running around idle. For sure it’s not like running at 2500 or 3000 rpm for hours - but it does show the basic idea.

You can see the Buzz-Kill did reduce a little of the vibration - but not a ton.

Obviously at highway rpms I think it would be different, and maybe I will try and get a sampling with that at some point - this was just a quick experiment.

New bedroom for my TC, it's a just fit but easier & quicker than a loose cover. It
also stops next doors cat using my bike as a bed.

Well, I cleaned my R18 today.... and tried to explain to the wife how cleaning and polishing the a motorbike is hard work, not like cleaning the house. I also decided, maybe, that it is my favoirite bike of my life.

It's a maybe, because as a 21yo this one was quite epic at the time.

I was admiring your saddle bags. I think they will adapt well to my chopper style R18!! Where did you get them? I need to see if I can raise them about 4 inches and move forward about 6 inches. They need to work around the signal lights on the fenders and the left side license plate. Thanks, Tony

Installed a Quad Lock wireless phone mount. Used a Knuckle and low vibration head. Pretty easy install
Where and how did you pull the power for the wireless charger? I have a TC and thinking about doing the same. I hate to use a DIN USB adapter plugged in the front dash... Thanks in advance!

Is that a custom full front fender? Did you change from the smaller stock fender?
yep - just ordered the BMW one and had it painted to match .... the small one looks good but in the UK where it always seems to be damp / wet the engine gets covered in crap

It is from Unit Garage.......

Mine is a black waxed suède one on a older bracket..... their newer bracket for the fish tail exhaust mounts the bag a bit higher. I only run one bag. They also do a smaller one.

Thank you sir! The design looks like it will fit my needs perfectly. I really like the natural soft look. Do you know if there is local dealer in the United States? Thanks, Tony

I'm Australian based..... I bought direct..... stuff arrived quickly and was well packed.... I've bought 3 or 4 times from them.... tank cover, seat and another bag for my BMW Scrambler..... bag on the scrambler is the moss grey smaller one (10-14litres)

The larger bag (black one on my R18) cames with a plastic bit inside to help the bag keep it's shape.... on mine I trimmed it to let the bag sit a bit more relaxed. The smaller bag didn't have this.

Thanks for the testimonial vote of confidence!! And yes I was also curious about the smaller option. The information sharing on the R18 forum is truly amazing!!

Well it’s been done 😢. She has officially been hooked up to the battery tender and parked in a cozy place for the next few months. We have been extremely luck to have a warm start to the winter but I know that won’t last forever. I think the riding season for the lovely R18 is over. If we get some good weather I can take the old Honda XR out for a rip and if she gets a bit nasty all she needs is a power wash and dry. Looking forward to week long dry weather forecasts. Safe riding to all!
