BMW gives up the R18 !!!!

Called in at my BMW dealer this afternoon. It was quiet. Had opportunity so I spoke to the sales guy about the R18 lineup and what’s really going on (I’m in the UK, where you live may be different). I told them I couldn’t see any new unregistered 2025 Euro +5 models for sale in showrooms yet...

    Greeting from Cumbria

Morning. In my experience BMW service has been very reasonable and pretty effortless tbh. I’ve always done my own routine services on previous bikes but was pleasantly surprised when i returned to using a main dealer (for not voiding warranty and yes i know it shouldn’t matter blah blah blah but...

BMW gives up the R18 !!!!

Think we have to applaud that as motorcyclists there is still plenty of choice for us, across all the brands. Whether new or used there is something for everyone. The popularity of the GS is without doubt offsetting many of BMW’s other bikes that don’t sell so well but that’s a good thing. I...

    Strange tire wear

They are very heavy on tyres and if I remember correctly there’s not much tread (depth) on a brand new tyre to begin with. 6k miles is about right.

I'm back (ish) - swap my '23 H-D Street Bob UK only

Yea tricky situation, got the T shirt on this one too. The bike market is brutal lately and I got screwed last summer. I traded a Transalp and XSR900 to get my Roctane. I stupidly and naively thought it would be easy, two popular mainstream bikes in mint condition but no, got bugger all for...

I'm back (ish) - swap my '23 H-D Street Bob UK only

Have you considered selling the HD on consignment? I’ve done that two or three times with a local private trader and it worked well, got a better price than I would have privately with no hassle and he got a £500 sellers fee. If you are realistic with the price you ask rather than what you...

    BMW gives up the R18

I did have a quick look online at UK websites yesterday and it’s true, there aren’t any new 2025 R18’s on sale (that I could see anyway). There were 45 on there, a few private sales, plenty low mileage minters with an odd one or two being advertised as new 2025 dealer or zero mile pre reg but...

    Initial Oil Change

Agree. Changing the oil (plus filter) regularly is probably the best thing you can do for your engine, relatively cheap and easy to do yourself if you want to. No brainer really especially if you plan to keep your bike. I presume you mean the 6000 mile service/annual service after the initial...

WTB Chrome Cylinder Head Covers for R18

Try a search Mike, I know some wrapping has been done but can’t remember who it was.

    Which year to buy

See how you get on with your test ride, after 3 days you should have a good idea whether you are going to get on with the R18 and can actually live with one. They are not everyone’s cup of tea. There’s loads of owner feedback on every model on the forum already so I’d suggest investing some time...

WTB Chrome Cylinder Head Covers for R18

A year or two back there were people selling stuff like this quite often as they personalized their bikes but it’s dried up considerably (as far as I can see anyway). Have you thought about maybe a vinyl wrap on your covers instead?

    2024 R18 interest rate

Not seen any on the R18 line over here, think there were some BMW offers on the F900 and some of the smaller stuff but didn’t pay too much attention, as this post shows 🤦🏻

    BMW gives up the R18

+1. Having had their (and many of our) fingers burnt making too many of them back in 2020 I do expect BMW will be more savvy though and make fewer going forward, which can’t be a bad thing. I like what they’ve done with the 2025 bikes.
