600 mile trip. Do I need oil?

Nope... There's a similar thread with some good suggestions on riding the bike, during the break-in period..

    Starting difficulty

Despite what the owners manual states; I still stand behind the logic of using the Emergency-Off Switch, vs the (what I would think, to be the more expensive component) ON-OFF switch, if replacement is needed... I'm so confused at this point... I'm going to keep leaving my bike on its...

    Starting difficulty

I had no idea that BMW refers to the RED Start-Stop switch, as the " Emergency-off switch"; I guess I'll try using the ON-OFF switch as explained in the owners manual... I'm thinking, the R18 not starting on the 1st try is more related to whether or not that battery is at 100% charge or not...

    R18 Boxer Coffee Machine

I don't even want to know what I spend on coffee each year... Starbucks is smart, we have a Starbucks across the plaza at our HQ building, for one of the nation's largest police departments.. If I had to guess, it's probably North of $4k/year..

BMW gives up the R18 !!!!

Surprisingly.. My Model B is still pretty stock when compared to the TC model, where I added the TC wind management pieces.... Floor Boards, Windshield, Toe-Heel shifter, Seat all Model B stock parts..

    Starting difficulty

You're definitely not alone... My Bagger goes through this same issue every now and then...where it always starts on the 2nd attempt. Try committing to holding the Start button a little longer, when starting the bike initially. I always shut down my bike via the red start-kill switch, vs the...

Front tire bumps on Michelin Commander III

My R18 B felt loose on the road Saturday morning; I checked the tire pressure and I was down approximately 6 to 8 lbs psi on the front and rear tires... Filled with air for Sunday riding, and I could notice the difference; the bike felt much better on the road... It only takes a minute or two...

    CanisterEctomy made easy

A couple of us all went out riding yesterday for seven (7) hrs.; I find myself, ALWAYS topping off with as much fuel as possible in my fuel tank. I was just thinking yesterday, as I watched the fuel spill slightly over the brim of the fuel full; that I probably should NOT remove my canister...

    BMW gives up the R18

What was the out-the-door deal and how'd it compare to the R18 B? If I was to jump over to an HD; it would mostly likely be a used Patriot or Fast Johnny edition Street Glide or Road Glide; however, my Engineering side of my brain would most likely steer me to what I already own - maybe a...

Cruise control limited to < 100 mph

At 13,000+ miles... I was playing around with the adaptive cruise control (between 40 mph - 55 mph); switching gears up & down based on the vehicle ahead of me... BMW did a good job with the ACC feature. The ACC feature is highly underutilized by myself, I'm going to start using it a little...

    Initial Oil Change

My R18 B is strictly a personal "therapeutic hobby", at 13k+ miles worth of head-clearing riding and a bunch of small tasteful modifications; the maintenance part, is probably my favorite part of the overall motorcycle ownership or hobby... I do the oil, oil filter and air filter annually...

(not so) Brief review of the "Medium Bag 27L"

I'd probably go with the Biltwell 105; I always seem to find a way to make 5 days worth of clothes, fit within the side cases... I'm skeptical as to how much I'll actually use it..

(not so) Brief review of the "Medium Bag 27L"

Do you think this under seat strap would help or compliment a mounted bag on the passenger seat of a Model B:

    Looking for Narrower Handlebar

I see BMW now offers a Drag Straight Bar as part of their configuration options on the R18; I'd would love the below bike, upgraded with the LMC Oil Cooler, Rear Fender, License Plate Bracket, Seat Pan and Leather Seat:
