Hi everyone,

Maybe was there before but I have only started noticing this in the last couple of weeks.
When I switch the bike off, after 45 seconds or so the bike makes a chirp or a clacking noise if you like, that seems to come from the engine side, sort of the middle part of it. Is this noice created by a pump or maybe the exhaust flaps/servo module?
It is not annoying me, it is just that I don’t recall hearing it before. Cheers

I hear you both but it is not the click click click sound of metal cooling off. It is a single chirp or sometimes it makes a sound like something was winding up, it is like a grrrrrrr and then it stops. It is only one sound that last 2 seconds and that is it. What I would do is as soon as I switch off next time I will have my phone ready and quickly throw myself on the garage floor to see if I can capture the sound. Cheers for the input fellas.

Hmmm ... I know my new tachometer back light stays on for about 30 or so seconds after the bike is shut off (and it is connected to the aux power) ... that makes me think to ask if you have anything plugged in or connected to the aux power connector? maybe something you did just recently?

LOL .. I have a 2021 FE .. no TFT ... just an analog speedo and the adjustments are very limited ... I have to check and see if the GS-911 interface can be used to turn it on ...

Yes, I somehow managed to turn off my lights and chirp with the GS-911. Got the flashing lights back, but cant figure out how to get the chirp back.

Hmmm that is good to know that you could turn them off .. then there must be a way to turn them back on ... which means I should be able to turn on the 'chirp' as well ... as I said I don't use them often ... but when I do I would like the audible confirmation that I did ;)

Hi Anibal, mine makes random clicks and clacks, even what you could describe as moaning or whirring sounds too. Bit like ‘whale song’. Especially post ride, when the bike is cooling down completely. When it’s stone cold there is no sound, at all. I think it’s the emissions gubbings doing its thing, those charcoal canisters and all the associated plumbing. Lest not forget our bikes are never really ‘off’ in the old fashioned sense. The entire system is sealed nowadays and venting is controlled. I expect it’s nothing at all to worry about 👍

Cheers Ulrich. My lights are also set to courtesy so they will stay on for about 30 seconds but this is a default setting that can be changed to off using the TFT and wonder wheel and I don’t have anything installed to an auxiliary power.

I think you are onto something here Rufus. Never thought about the charcoal canister and all the plumbing connected and maybe there is a process built in that takes place after switching off and that is what makes the sound.
I will share a recording at some point this weekend and see what we all think. I am not worried to be honest, I am taking it as something that is purposely built and it is doing its stuff, it is just that I don’t recall hearing it since the beginning when I bought the bike.

Ok, I tried to upload a small clip of the famous chirp which happens 20 second of so after switching the bike off. Unfortunately it seems the 10 seconds clip is too large to be uploaded . Anyway, I noticed that when this noise happened, the small hose/cable with the number ending on 083 in the picture moved, it is like whatever goes inside that hose, cable pulls something or actuates something.IMG_1615.webp

I thought it would be something like that. Then my guess is that after switching off the flaps will close or something and the noise is the servos? To be hones, I am not concerned about the noise, it is not something that sounds like is broken or anything is just that I never heard them before and it does it all the time now or at least I am at the garage still when it does it. Anyway, thank you for the clue Ulrich 👊👊
