This idea will probably offend folks that like the purist look of the R18 Classic. I have read through the forum post for adding GPS Nav V to a R18 but that thread focuses on just getting the GPS functionality resulting in it missing that the Nav V can display a lot of information about the bike.

I had a 2016 R1200GS Adventure that had the Nav V Prep. I really liked that there was a page on the Navigation V that displayed odometer, trips, tire pressure, engine temp, outside temp, etc. And mounting a Chigee in the Nav Cradle gave me a nice view similar to my 2023 R1250 GS Adventure. Yea, I ended up with two GS Adventures hence why I replaced the 2016 GSA with the R18.

I just replaced the 2016 R1200 GS Adventure with a 2023 R18 Classic. After riding it for a while I find that I really miss the information page. I can get GPS nav on my phone but I liked getting to the data page with all the information about the bike in real time. I guess I am a geek or something.

My first thought to get the bike information in real time was to buy an OBDLink MX+ because they have a mobile app that will display the information in real time and I thought I could pop up the app when I wanted to see what was going on in the bike to satisfy my data geek needs. So I bought it and it turns out that while the OBDLink MX+ will read the CANbus with Moto Scan, the OBDLink app doesn't support the BMW CANbus protocol so the app doesn't work for BMW. After contacting the software developer they said they have no plans to add the BMW protocol to their app.

So, the next thought was that I could buy a Nav V prep kit for a F850GS (65908405300) and then I could put the Chigee in that cradle or use the Nav V from my other GSA if I want the digital stuff. Getting the cradle mounted nicely is not the issue.

On the Nav V prep kit, there are two connectors. The 3 pin connector that seems to be for just power and the two pin connector that seems (from reading posts about the wiring of the Nav V Prep kit) to be to connect to the CANbus. I found the 2 pin connector. Is there a 3 pin connector that the Nav V prep kit can connect to?

Thanks,
Scott
