BMW R18 to Honda VTX1800 or Vice Versa Thoughts...

What do you guys think of the VTX1800N?
I have been intrigued by this bike for about twenty years but still shy to pull the trigger.
Yet I have developed an itch for this bike, an it's not leaving me alone.
Any of you that has had first hand experience with one?
Curious to find out what your take on the subject might be.
One quick note. According to Bikez, the VTX1800 scores higher then the R18 models on most categories.
Any thoughts?

It is certainly not as sexy, but is probably more comfortable and a nice bike. It just reeks of wannabe lookalike.

Buddy had one and traded up to a 2014 triumph Rocket. The VTX is a super solid bike. It’s a Honda, so change the oil and go, for the most part.

My buddy did have a couple gremlins that we didn’t totally sort out. Iffy starting here and there mostly. Parts between the VTX sub-models aren’t universal, so what fits for one probably doesn’t fit for the others. The other issue is that these are now 15 years old at best. Parts are harder to come by. No aftermarket support anymore, really.

If you can grab a good example for a steal, you’ll have fun, but you might wish you got something a little more multi-dimensional, as the VTX was really just Honda responding to Harley’s bigger muscle cruisers of the era, for better or worse.

I did consider the VTX 16 or 17 years ago. I liked it quite a bit but did not like the rear of the bike that much. In the end I settled for the M109R.
Same sort of category, sporty muscle cruiser and she was an amazing experience. Easy to maintain, no huge amount of electronics, bullet proof engine, breaks that could stope a runaway train. Really liked it to be honest.
