Well I finally got round to fitting my V&H rear silencers which I got through the BMW reverse gear compensation scheme.
The OEM silencers took a little persuasion with a soft mallet to come off and lining up the new ones with the pipe and two mounting points on each side required a little patience as you can’t look at all three points at once - but other than that, pretty straightforward.
My issue is with the fitment of the chrome trim pieces that cover the exhaust clamps.
Using the supplied rubber buffers which fit on the front end of each silencer, the trim pieces stick out like a sore thumb and well proud of the silencer profile.
I’ve tried trimming the buffers down with a blade to reduce their height but even then,
whilst an improvement, there is still a large gap as per the photos.
I’ve ordered some lower profile snap in rubber buffers of varying thicknesses to fit the mounting points from EBay and Amazon to see whether they improve matters.
Interested in hearing of any similar experiences from B & TC owners with the V&H pipes.
