2022 BMW R18B
Coming from a Harley Davidson to an R18b hasn't been too much of an adjustment. I do have a complaint with BMW engineering. I HATE the way BMW has to check the oil level. I realize that many MC manufacturers use the oil window. However, it makes checking the oil a two man job, which is absurd. Harley uses a dipstick, which was SO CONVENIENT.

Any suggestions on getting an accurate reading on the oil when I don't have anyone else around to hold the bike perfectly upright?

This has been discussed in the past .. parking in a wheel chock, letting it drain down for 5 minutes or so and then reading it should be the best ... or letting it drain down sitting on it and taking a pic with your phone ... or using a mirror to read it ... I think that summons it about up what people came up with ... and yes the peep-hole is in an awkward spot ... I agree ;)
... In any case it has to be read while the bike is upright and not on the kick stand ... a center stand would be nice (Hint Hint BMW) !!!

Same here, I much prefer the old fashion stick. When I have felt the need to check my oil level (the machine will let you know if you are low within safety parameters) I sit on the bike, open the camera on my phone and select “video” lower my phone with my right arm and presto, take a little footage of it. I don’t have a wheel chock or kern staby unfortunately

DItto on all points, it is a PITA. At least could have provided a means to keep her upright so this is easier to accomplish.

I use my phone, and keep the photo in my R18 folder, 'cause hell, I got it might as well keep it 'just in case'. 🤪

+1 on telescopic mirror. Once you know where to place it, very easy. And I don't have to keep up with three different oil levels like my H-D.
