The clutch oil is transmission fluid. Literally, the name of the product is "TRANSMISSION OIL HYSPIN V10" (BMW part # 21 52 2 455 540).

Transmission oil AFAIK is not hygroscopic, meaning it won't absorb moisture from the air, unlike brake fluid. Therefore, there's no harm in not changing out the fluid. As for me, I have no plans on changing mine.

The clutch fluid appeared to be blue in color..?? Which isn't the color of the transmission fluid...

I didn't say it was literally the transmission fluid BMW uses in the gearbox. Rather, when looking up the microfiche, BMW calls it "TRANSMISSION OIL HYSPIN V10".

Their words, not mine.

Don't put brake fluid into the clutch system. BMW uses a blue colored oil that costs $11 per bottle. The bottles are small but you don't need much volume to fill the reservoir. As I understand it, the clutch fluid doesn't need to be changed.

We’re can I purchase or find a shop technical manual ? I have the manual that shows basic functions and maintenance. I need the one that has the meat and potatoes.

The clutch fluid is mineral oil.
The BMW blue fluid is not that expensive if you feel the need to flush or add fluid.

Likely not going to find one. But never say never. The dealerships have to log in to access them.

Someone here posted a link to a PDF version of the touring R18 service manual. It’s about 2,500 pages.

I just did a search and didn't come up with anything.

Do you happen to have a link to the post?

Mike

The guy who posted that pdf for the Transcontinental said something about the link expiring in three days.
Not sure how that works.

It has been stuck at the same percentage for a while. It is very big. I tried sending it by wasap to my wife and she got it in no time. If anyone is on wasap, PM me your number, I am more than happy to share a copy.
