Dear BMW Motorrad - This is a hope that you will take this feedback seriously. The BMW touring and cruiser bikes with the 10.25” TFT screens need the CA (Connected App) navigation seriously needs to be updated.
The CA navigation as it is currently is fine for basic A to B routing. But the buyers who purchase the bikes with the large TFT are looking for navigation that goes beyond the basics. Something that will compete with Garmin and CarPlay devices. Adding the below 2 updates to the CA’s navigation will do just that.
1.) Allow the ability of a waypoint to be non-announcing, effectively making it a shaping point. Shaping points are used to ensure the specific roads you want to take are in the route, and these do not need to announce, only guide the rider onto the specific roads.
2.) When waypoints are announced, the navigation voice says “you have arrived at your stop.” This can be very confusing, especially when the waypoint is not a stop. A simple change would have the waypoint announced as “you have arrived at waypoint <waypoint name >”.
For example, if you have a waypoint set to a gas station named “Shell Gas”, the waypoint announcement would be “you have arrived at waypoint Shell Gas.”
There are other features that could also be added to the CA’s navigation, but adding the above 2 things would make the navigation so much more useful, and riders such as myself and many others wouldn’t feel the need to spend the extra money on a Garmin or CarPlay device.
Myself and many others have asked for this, and we hope you take this seriously enough to actually implement these navigation updates, and make a lot of riders happy knowing they can have a navigation system they can seriously use for touring.
