Anybody else ride it today? I did the Baltimore one. Nice folks and a great day. Some nifty older bikes too. I was the only R18 there...

Thanks for posting. Always great to see some of these classic bikes. That chopper took me back to high school days. Don't see many of those any more. (thankfully)

I missed it, as my bike wasn't delviered yet, but will be there next year in Calgary, Alberta the closest city with a DGR to me.

Wow R2K! Gorgeous!! I'm on the lookout for an R60/2....but these /5's are making me think....
The /5 represented a number of firsts, or at least changes for BMW. It switched to telescopic forks from links used in most previous models. It was the first line built in the Berlin factory where most bikes are currently built. It was the first “performance “ BMW and changed the perception of their bikes.

As a result, there were a lot of /5s sold. Probably easier to find a /5 than a /2. However, the “Toaster” tank version R2K and I have was only 72&73 and not very popular at the time, but has become more desirable over time.

The /6 & /7 kept many of the elements of the /5 but with some improvements like a front disc brake and 5 speed transmission. Worth expanding to look at the broader Type 247 Airheads as they had a long production run with many still running.
