Diameter of engine bars?

Are the 1 inch around or even larger? I was going to order some Aux lights but I have to pick between 1 inch, 1.25 and 1.5" diameter.
 
My guess is 1" but I never actually thought about it. I can measure the circumference with a cloth tape and report back, but it will be a couple hours yet.

thank you! I have a pending order with Clearwater and they say their customers have all had aftermarket bars so they suggested 1 inch but they look thicker than that.

Adam, you are right! The stock engine protection bars on my bike are 3.5 inches in circumference…..which means they are NOT 1” diameter. They are just a hair under 1 1/8 inches.
3.5 divided by pi gives the diameter.
The diameter is 1.114 inches

Yup, mine measure up about the same. I put a caliper on the engine protection bar on my TC, it measured 29.93 mm / 1.178 inches diameter on a straight section.

who's right?


LOL those two measurements are like a hair away from each other. thank you both for sending the numbers. I think the 1" bar mounts Clearwater sells will work because they won't sit completely flush together anyway but at 1", that will mean they're snug when I torque them down.

The caliper used by varg is more accurate than my method. I wrapped a piece of paper around the bar, marked the circumference, then unrolled the paper and measured the length. I'm off by 6/100 of an inch or 1.5 mm

If they are 1 1/8 inches (1.125") we are both wrong. LOL
 
perhaps they are 30mm? that's pretty close to what we measured. Also, I see the Wunderlich rear guard tubing is specified 25mm, so possibly metric? I remeasured and did notice a small variation in diameter 90 degrees off the other, so the tubes are very slightly oval in places probably from the bending processes.
 
Mine are 32 mm
Some are 38 mm, much better.
25mm (1 inch) is not enough, for the strengh and the look
 
Clearwater sent me their 27-29mm mounts. They don't fit:

The OEM Engine Guard tubing on my 2022 R18TC is 30mm diameter. I measured at several points, and it was within thousandths at each.

The Wunderlich Rear Bag Guards are 25mm on the front loop, and a little shy of 23mm on the rearward arm around the bag.
