Dirt bike recommendation for 13 year old

I am doing some research before choosing a bike to start my son on motorcycle riding. He is almost 13 and is fairly tall for his age...5'10" and growing.

Ideally I would like to stay under the $3K range and have a bike that is low enough that he can comfortably flat foot both feet.

Any recommendations are appreciated! I am looking at the Kawasaki KLX 110L vs the Honda CRF 125. I don't have experience with either bike, but have owned both brands and been very happy with those brands...

Hard to go wrong with the Honda. Though my first instinct would be to go with a Yamaha. You might find it tough to get one in that price range that isn't all beat up. The decent ones around me are going for 4-5k
