Engine Guards

with the 2 boxer head sticking out , i'm always in worry of dropping the bike while pushing it around or when parking the bike in our neighbourhood.(singapore have 4-5" tall kerbs on almost every road)

i started looking at the Engine guards, crash bar, etc..
found the regular 23-28mm crash bar kinda old school and was looking for those guards that the GS have, that just covers around the Head.

I found these online on webike.jp, after checking about, they are made by the Company Trijya (https://trijya.com/).
Contacted them directly and about 1.5 weeks later, they are in my hands.


looks close to what I was looking for and hope they work well when needed. Although not going to be as tough as what the GS have.. I assumed they would provide some protection when bike is dropped.

Post installation: ( it's a Simple 3 bolts per side job, 5-10mins Max )



All seems good, no rattle or noise.

Are those just held on by the two bolts on the valve cover? If so they may cause more damage to the bike and add zero protection.

Agreed.. the head cover is really a cosmetic piece, it actually has a rubber bumper protection piece behind it, that appears to protect the valve cover in case of a drop.

I see the OEM protection bar and other worthy protection bar products which are anchored onto the frame, as a protection piece that not only protects the cosmetic cover, but the overall cylinder from catastrophic damage due to taking on the entire weight of the bike if dropped on its side.

I will echo the previous comments, and just add: consider where the bolts thread into. With these bars you are actually transferring all of the potential drop shock through those two bolts & threads that go directly into the cylinder.

That plastic cover is sacrificial, designed to be replaced easily. Those clever German engineers anticipated our clumsy selves moving our bikes around.

I do like the looks of them though - they look cool.

I will echo the previous comments, and just add: consider where the bolts thread into. With these bars you are actually transferring all of the potential drop shock through those two bolts & threads that go directly into the cylinder.

I do like the looks of them though - they look cool.

I 100% agree ... I like the looks, but they do not thread into anything substantial that could actually support the weight of the bike .. let alone the 'dropped weight' ...

the guard have 3 mounting points

2 on the valve cover and 1 at the bottom side of the heads.

it mainly for bike drop protection, definitely will not work as per a crash bar.

probably just better then without any protection.
the impact with not hit the head directly but a set of steel bars to take a part of the impact off.

i'm talking to a local fab guy to add extension of support to the bottom frame tubes.to divert weight off the mounting point on the heads

Seems like a lot of work... especially, when there is an OEM part that is known to work..

Just thinking that the photo shows the lower bar somewhat close to the brake lever.....is there enough room for a boot? May only be an optical illusion ?

So far, there's enough for my boots.

the bottom support bolt is as far as the grounding bolt is, on the right cylinder, which is closer to the leg compare to the right side.

Seems like a lot of work... especially, when there is an OEM part that is known to work..

yes those are crash bars as i've mentioned which are not to what i wanted for the bike.
