Bike
2025 bmw R18 Transcontinental
After about two weeks and just under 1000km of trouble free breakin riding in nice weather, I headed out in light rain and wet roads to participate in a fundraising ride when my new 2025 R18 transcontinental threw a red flag warning stating "serious fault in the engine control. Riding at mod. speed pos. Damage pos. Have checked by service provider."

I stopped, contacted dealer, started bike and code cleared, Igot it in and they checked it all out and test rode it. Got that all clear to go but they said it didn't show a code at all?

I was worried wondering if it was maybe rain related thinking what will happen next time! Well I got pounded hard with rain later that day heading home! The good news? No codes or faults from the deluge of water thankfully!

Thoughts? Has anyone else experienced similar?

I will say, keep riding as normal and if it happens again then definitely take it to the dealer for inspection. It may have been a one off incident if water somehow made contact with a sensitive part that caused then computer to generate the code. I once got a code as well riding at motorway’s speeds that saw me stopping on the hard shoulder. Switched the bike off and did a walk around to see if I could spot the obvious. Nothing, so I continued my journey back home and the code never came back.
At that time my B was around 2K on the odometer.

At almost 17,000 miles on my 2022 FE Model B; I've had only one occurrence, where I got a bunch of warnings related to the TPS sensors in both the front and rear tire.

I immediately slowed down and eventually pulled over to inspect the tires; turned the bike off, and then restarted, all alarms cleared and nothing was wrong with my tire pressure.

I gave it a lot of thought that entire weekend; I've seen cell phone jammers and such, that perps carry in their vehicle to either jam GPS or just plain out harass other drivers talking on their cell while driving...

I'm thinking the RF interface between the TPS sensors and the Receiver that reads the TPS sensor data was lost due to the above mentioned occurrence; perhaps, this is a possibility for weird occurrences where nothing is actually wrong with the bike..??

As an example: I lose the Navigation screen on the same stretch of highway EVERY single time I ride past a particular area, which is supported by the Bluetooth or Wi-FI RF connection between the phone and the R18's TFT system; obviously, there is some co-channel interference in that area, which is at a much higher signal level than what my cell phone can put out...

I have a 21 TC, last year on the way home it started running rough, showing an intermittent
suspension strut fault, lost the display and all but the speedometer. Made it home and
checked for faults like loose leads etc. The main fuse was hot to touch, and the terminals
were corroded and one that sot you could bend it easily. Replaced the fuse and used battery
terminal grease on fuse and holder with no issues since. Probably a good place to start
looking for issues

Corroded battery terminal will produce a voltage drop, due to poor contact surface pressure/conductivity.. resulting in an increased current (amperage) draw..

Cleaning up the battery terminals and or replacing the battery sounds like the way to go..
