Gas burn on tank?

Anyone have this issue before? I mistakenly left some gas spill on the edge of the gas cap and it's left a mark on the tank. I presume it probably took the clear coat off but looking for suggestions on how to return it back to a 'perfect' state. Thanks!

Photo? Can you feel a distinct height difference with your fingernail? If not, perhaps the clear coat is stained or just etched a little? Try a very light buffing compound.
