2024 R18
Hello!

Based out of Albuquerque, NM I recently bought a new 2024 R18 base model as my first motorcycle and absolutely loving it. I initially bought the bike to commute but now that perspective has changed and see myself growing into the bike and venturing out.

Looking forward to reading everyone's posts and hopefully getting to get to know some of yall!

Beeejeezusss yes and for commuting at that
Took that literally huh ;) lol the commute itself is a really short ride, ~10 minutes and a relaxing little ride w/o cars. I'm excited to venture out of Albuquerque but the interstates that feed out of the city have a speed limit of 75 mph/ ~120kmh and people here treat it as a speed minimum. So really looking forward to some touring/ longer rides to neighboring states once I get more experienced. How is riding out in your region of Spain?

Ah so your R18 basically does not even warm up on the commute :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Over here it is simply riders & drivers heaven with great roads, good weather, history/culture all over and minimal traffic most of the time. You can read more on my https://www.r18forums.com/threads/my-10cts.4162/ thread.

The infrastructure here can not be compared with yours over there. Not in the least. There is over half a dozen of road ´levels´ ranging from local single track to proper national highway. All but the exception are well maintained.

Same thing road users. Apart from ´rush´ hour into the cities, there is nóóó rush. The ´rush´ in brackets is on purpose as you can still cruise along at 55/60 without a bother.

With the air cooled engines, do they ever really get warm? ;) lol I definitely wish it was a longer ride, maybe buy a house further away to accommodate the ride! Lol 😆

Sounds awesome! I have family in Germany so might need to venture down to Spain and try it out! Ill check out the link you provided.

Thanks Petrus!

From the village I live to Málaga capital is about 40 kms. Have FÍVE options. Toll road, highway, second level provicial and two strings of local roads. Highway and toll are about 30 minuts max, the others up to double the distance & altitudes, max 90 minutes of all curves.

The provincial A-7000 is a nice half way option. You can find it on youtube. It also hosts the ´Subida a Colmenar´ rally. Near Málaga has two 360 degree turns strung together;

The rally from Colmenar side.

The road from Málaga side. Only the first not nicest part.

A selection of the whole track

And mind that is but óne road and a provincial one at that. Go figure the proper twisties

I live just south of you in Belen. I commute up to Rio Rancho on the regular. My wife is just learning to ride. And we venture out on Saturdays.

Sunday mornings people meet up at rust is gold coffee and ride.
