Heated Grips

I ride a 2024 BMW R 18 Roctane with heated grips. A friend has a 2023 R18 Roctane. He says that his grips at the 3 bar level are so hot he has to lower to 1 or 2 bars. Mine at 3 bars (the highest heat level) barely keeps my hands warm while wearing normal gloves. The dealer's mechanic says there is no problem. I don't believe him. Seems to me the heating system (like everything else these days) is computer controlled. Does anyone have a solution?

My 2024 Classic are fine on 3 with leather gloves (enough to keep my hands warm down to about 6 or 7 Celsius).

Does your friend ride with bare hands maybe?

Edit: Or thinner gloves than you?

All I can suggest is try another bike at the dealership while yours is there too and let the dealer see the difference ... won't be 'til spring for us I suspect though.

Do you have one of these infra red heat guns? ... that way you can turn both on for the same length of time and setting and check ... that way you have a real comparison, before you (maybe) start chasing an issue that may not be there ... just my 2¢

I cannot ride with mine on 3. They are so hot I can barely hold the grips. Even this morning riding to our normal Tuesday breakfast meet at 38F, I had it on level 1.

Je ne peux pas rouler avec les miens réglés sur 3. Ils chauffent tellement que j'ai du mal à tenir les poignées. Même ce matin, en allant à notre petit-déjeuner habituel du mardi par 3°C, je les avais réglés sur le niveau 1.

I can tell you from first-hand experience on the Classic, Bagger, and TC... The highest setting is too hot and should only be used for heating the grips up quickly.

Does your dash show a grip with three dots below it?

That's exactly what mine looks like. At 3 bars I can barely feel the heat with gloves on and at 45' F.

I ditch my normal gloves for mitts during the winter get a lot more heat on your palms than gloves .

my '21 classic grips aren't very hot either. my snowmobiles are hotter, depending on the model. could be the grips suck. mine leave a lot to be desired.
