Heel shifter replacement issue

So, on my new TC I have what is likely a metric straight heel shifter that can’t be lowered without hitting the exhaust shield. Harley has offset heel shifters that avoid this issue but are US standard sized and don’t fit on the splines of the metric shift rod. Does anyone have any suggestions?

- here's a post from Alex-B that might be helpful:

One possibility (not easy) is to buy a steel rod. Heat and bend it as needed then weld to existing piece. Would have to saw off part of existing.
Plan B: Find a shift rod from a different brand of metric bike that has the required contour.
