You are halfway there. Download Motoscan free app to your phone, upgrade the Motoscan app to Pro version somewhere around $30 (Pro version will let you reset the service light).

While the Obdlink is sync with the phone like you had it, now open Motoscan app Pro from your phone, from Motoscan Pro app select R series -->, R18 -->, K35 (Bagger) -->, Instrument Cluster -->, Servive Reset, from here you can reset it by date/miles. See sample from this video link
I just reset my engine service light using the LX unit today.I normally use my iPhone here in the USA.When I travel back to my wifes country i have a android phone which is needed to use the LX unit and download the apps.I had a bit of a problem today as I have not used the android phone since covid.that being said I needed a update the google apps .After diong that she worked like a charm. When I was done,I had a new code with a picture of a key and a battery wtf???
Then I thought,KEY FOB.Sure enough,I replaced the CR2032 fob battery and the dash code disappeared.LOL!
You do have to purchase the app for moto scan but the next to the top app is more reasonablly priced and it will do all you need it to do.
BTY,the OBD2 LX also is all that is needed the higher priced MX is not needed.
Like the video said, sometimes you will need to turn the phone off, rebutte or start over if there are any issues.

I read some of these post. So can we summarize: I have 2021 R18 Classic First Ed. I have an IPhone (NOT ANDROID). I want to reset maintenance light for oil change. What do I need to purchase?

As a slight update, I was able to reset my factory service indicator with the GS911 USB model. I had to update the software on my PC, but it immediately recognized the bike, added it to my registry and reset the date for me.

Nice!!! ... while you are at it (and if you are so inclined) you can adjust it to the mileage and/or date you want it to be ;)

I do it with OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth and Motoscan Professional app
/\ This. Still works on my 2023 R1250 GS, Least expensive option. Does require an Android based smartphone, not sure if it works with Apple products.

Side note, MotoScan works on the metric system for the mileage. 10,000 km (default number) entered works out to about 6217 miles. Close enough for your oll changes, since BMW bases it on the metric system. Entering 9700 (km) should get you 6027 miles until next service due.

This worked flawless for me today! I was using the OBDLink MX+ with Motoscan Pro on a Motorola Edge Plus 2022.

I've had the OBDLink for about a year and a half but have never used it until today. I did have to do a firmware update using the OBDLink app. Otherwise it was slick as goose poop.

The GS-911 will read and clear trouble codes but WILL NOT reset the service light at this time. Use an OBDLink scan tool + Motoscan app
WRONG...!!! The GS-911 absolutely resets the service interval light/message, plus so much more in terms of trouble shooting and or modifications adjustments...

I'm not sure what Gaylord Poe be smoking...???

LOL, I just used my GS-911 to clear the service reminder the other day.
And Star-Lord is correct, it has tremendous capability. A must have if you are going to service or modify your BMW.

I agree! ... and lets face it ... If for noting else ;) just being able to turn on the 'Cruiser Light' function would be worth it ... but then there is sooo much more :D

I think the HEX GS911 is specific to only BMW motorcycles; looking at the website, they have a VIN tool that one can enter in their bike's VIN and check for compatibility... I didn't try entering a different brand VIN into the tool..

I only see the HEX folks referring to BMW throughout their website...

I think the origin of the GS911 was specifically designed for GS Adventure bikes, (911 - emergency rescue reference) while out in very remote areas, meant for troubleshooting while out in the field ...

Is the GS-911 a BMW tool only or cross platform?

I bought one of these to reset my MX light: https://www.cgsulitstore.com/produc...-tool-motorrad-obd2-scanner-cgsulit-sc530-pro

Relatively cheap ($139), easy to use, doesn’t require Bluetooth or internet. Plug it in to the OBD port and the bike battery powers the unit. No licenses to buy. Does everything a garage mechanic could want. Reads codes, resets codes, etc. No limit to the number of times you can use it per VIN. It also didn’t interfere with my Bren Tune. I looked at the GS911 about a year ago and it seemed ridiculously cumbersome to set up and use and expensive for what it is. The Motoscan solution seemed equally cumbersome. Because of the cost and the hassle I’ve just been riding the bike with the idiot light on. When I discovered this unit I figured it was worth $139 to give it a try. So far so good. This CGSULIT unit I bought was a 1/3 the price and much simpler to use. Just plug it in to use it. Highly recommend. It is a BMW specific reader. Won’t work on other bikes but they have models specific to other brands.

Does it reset the service reminder as well? ... if yes, that really would be a hell of a bargain ... and I do own a GS-911 ... and how about turning on/off other functionalities like the 'Cruising Lights' and such?

Their website claims it does. I placed an order. For the money it's worth a try.

Yes, but it only allows you to reset it for up to a year. Then you’ll have to do it again. However, that may a limitation built into the ECU by BMW.

I didn’t see a menu option that addressed other functionalities. The unit is a basic OBD reader that allows you to read/clear codes and reset service reminders. That’s all I need and it worked as advertised.
