Left piston / side stand

Seems too coincidental. I have never parked an r bike on the side stand for any length of time. I currently hold my r18 vertical on a condor rack.

Anybody know if those with left piston issues are on the side stand for long periods?

Just a thought. Inquiring minds...

I have the case . No, bike on the side stand all the time . 1 to 2 days between usage. Start engine while sitting on it . Happenned at 2500km , 5 to 6 times in the garage at start up since then. Last time oil fumes in all the house . I wonder if it s got something to do with the maintenance . AT the 1000km rev , they did put too much oil in it . They had to take some off. Still when i came back the level was above the window. When i came to visit dealer for the fuel pump (2500km) , i eared them playing with the throttle, bike on side stand, to listen to my exhaust pipes, then suddenly , oil smell in all the shop . and they took my bike for a ride along with white oil fume coming out of the left exhaust !! When they stopped the oil fumes had stopped . Since then , i had the issue from time to time at start up, in my Garage . Last time it lasted 10mn. I stopped . waited for Assistance , when they came few hours later , i started the engine to put the bike on the truck and NO Fumes any more !!?? During this period i ve lost over half a window oil level .
Quite sad .

BMW is replacing my left piston and there is an open Puma on this. I fogged in a gas station and it smoked for a week . anywho. I have ridden boxers, including vintage ones, for over 25 years. they can pass oil and smoke on start up. I just wasnt ready for the massive cloud of smoke and thought for sure something was busted. BMW took care of it

I had a 1100 GS and then 1100 RT sometime back . Never had this kind of issue .
