Bike
2021 BMW R18. 2020 Triumph Bobber.
After one year of ownership I traded my 2021 R 18 in for new 2026 R 1300 RS. I've been doing longer rides lately and had to make a choice on modifying (
windshields, fairings, etc) the beautiful and naked R 18, or getting something different. I opted to leave the bike as is and hope someone else enjoys it that way. Plus, a windscreen ain't gonna keep me from scraping pegs in the twisties. Every bike has an intended audience, and it turned out this one wasn't for me. Great forum here though so cheers to you all. Ride safe!

Beautiful looking machine of choice. Stay safe and enjoy.

Funny that after my last service i was eyeing up a lighter model in my dealership , i,m getting on a bit now and the old R18 Classic is a bit heavy , after getting insulting offers from various bike buying dealers i thought BMW might somehow give me a better deal , ha ha , after being in the dealership for over an hour they stated we will let you know as we put it out in the second hand bike market , then two days later they state they cannot get a price for my 2022 Classic , (in other words they are not getting what they require to make a good profit ) hence i will not be selling any time soon , second bike market is dead , one dealer told me he cannot shift his stock of second hand bikes everyone wants a new CF Moto , Voge , is there a message here ?.

When I sold my B on px the dealer offered me £500 less than my absolute minimum, however, the K he was selling brand new was heavily discounted to make room for the 2026 models. He said that the R18 was not everyone’s cup of tea and would probably be sitting on the showroom for a few months if not a year. I disagreed and told him that taking good pictures and lots of details they would make a killing. They put it up for sale at £3.5K higher than what they gave me and she was sold in 3 weeks.
I know they have to be careful about the stock they let in and watch they cash flow and overheads but I do believe the R18 has a market out there. Granted, is not everyone’s cup of tea but she is not an ugly duckling and thankfully there are people out there with good taste still.

I heard the same shit when I was trading my Duke 890R… they sold it 2 weeks later and made $3k.
I was in the car industry for 14 years. If they are talking then it’s a manure invasion.

It’s probably worth listing it in the private market and see if there’s any interest. It might take a month, but in the meantime you can keep riding. Good luck!

I test rode an RS recently at a demo event and was surprised at the amount of heat it gave off.

I personally didn't like it and was happy to get back on my R18 which oozed much more character than the RS did but perhaps an exhaust would bring some of that out.

Let us know how you get on with it.
