BMW R18 Bagger 2022
From here I start...

small1.jpg

and I will go slowly with what I am doing, I have time until the spring to have it in the way which I wanted and trying to not spend a fortune on it. In this post I will post any updates I will made in the course of time! So being say it that, I first start with my wind screen a large one like Transcontinental many of the upgrades which I will do. After installation this is not to great been a aftermarket product and I will try to show you what I mean, so in this way you all are going to have the knowledge if you want to do it or not ...

20251031_140848.jpg20251108_180904.jpg20251108_180946.jpg

just compare the thickness and finish of the original one and because of that I use some rubber washers on holes! I bought it from Powerbronze UK is a huge difference how ever I will not pay the price which the dealer is asking for the original one! Have in mind also the after market is not having the edge black shadow!
Next, not so much on the project, how ever relative, a good cover even in the garage...

20251027_120735.jpg

custom cover made at Cover&all UK.
Next it was the lower wind deflectors which I bought from Aliexpress with 21GBP and not 135GBP for one and because is having the base with a spring! Neahhh and this one are doing the job just fine...

20251108_180853.jpg20251108_180241.jpg

simple things, a charger, a water bottle holder For the time been I am not allowed to uploaded more the 10 photos ( which is quite reasonable ), so I am not going to have this ones in here! How ever the 1Inch large Handlebars which I bought from Amazon

20251108_182515.jpg

I love the filing of a larger handlebar and I do not care about worming them because I am not using it. Some of my mistakes which I hope some are going to get a lesson, give attention ( which I did not ) to the lever extension for the reverse gear because they are 2 sizes, one for R18 and another for R18Bagger and Transcontinental! Next if you are going to look for others mirrors, have in mind the Bimmers ones are longer on the thread and higher in the place which is making the curve!
20251108_182958.jpg
One more before I will finish this...

1762716776354.pngsmall1.jpg

Motorcycle Bolt Seat Lock Anti Theft I bought one from Aliexpress, how ever have in mind they are for Harley's! The thread on the screw is 1/4-20 to which I did not give attention when I bought it! Ours on R18 are metric so for this one I think is only one from Robert Becker Design, which they are making for Indian which is metric! The price is high, so look by your self and decide if you want one, me I will go for one. Have in mind, they are even other systems let me call them, so again you decide for...
For now this is, but I will continue here with the new updates and post which I will made in the future, the most important coming in January which I will take it to a signwriter to made black gloss strips on the front "Batmobil" windshield, fuel tank and side saddlebags. The same design like on black ones with white stripes. So see you all in future with updates and fell free to give a advise or show me what you done about ...

... so today I get a seat cushion and the idea behind this one is so simple, to not get wet my pants to much if I will get riding by the rain or in the summer to not get my pants on fire ( it was happen in Greece ). Very soft !

Next I get the lights and they are nice 4.5', but I did not know I will need a housing so now I am contacting the seller for that so I will see what is going to happen, how ever i find and others 4.0' looking in the same way, no housing also I found and wireless harness cable, so I have and other options. I am not in any rush with this ones because of the 2 years BMW quarantine!

will continue...20251111_114536.jpg20251111_115055.jpg20251111_115118.jpg

Today some Protection Instrument Film 5.80 GBP for 3 packages from the Chinese "Ali the express one", nothing to crazy just a little protection.

20251112_101931.jpg20251112_103013.jpg

So today one cover for the summer
20251117_120746.jpg
and the Ali the express One items, the Luggage Rack for R18 B it was been saying( and I get and a message, if I need it for a bagger because this one is only for bagger ), how ever I do not recommend it ( holes are not line up, need a lot of fabrication, which I did by myself having a garage ) also I will need a little bit "digging" on the back of the badge and secondo the Passenger Seat Backrest. This one you do not need to do anything is fitting just fine, ( it was one more which I was looking, a little taller but I was not having the proper trust, been Chinese products ) you have to choices, one lower and one higher ( in my photo is the highest one ). My only things personally with this one, I do not like the two chrome back screws and I am all ready looking to change them with black ones, also I think I will change and the pad rest with a bigger one, I will see how is going to look!
20251117_144853.jpg20251117_144859.jpg
Have in mind they are and other makers ( higher prices, different types ), but for me many of them and I am addressing about luggage rack, they was to high and I wanted something low, which is looking low!
No plate, I am waiting for my private one to come:)!

If some one out there is looking for a seat locker, I was all ready inform you all about the one from Amazon or from Chinese sites they are all made american thread for Harley's. Also Robert Becker Design from California is having the better one, but is 3 times more expensive, also they have one in metric ( which I can confirm ) and is made for Indian, how ever the thickness of the screw is bigger then in our BMW R18's ( must be M8 and ours is M6 )! Photos attached.20251122_090657.jpg BMW R18Robert Becker Design

Update
Today 21/11/2025 latter in the night, I get a response from Robert Becker Design to my email about the seat locker which I order from them and get this good news ...

"Thank you for the valuable information. I will go to our local BMW dealer to confirm thread pitch and length if the screw. I will then contact the machine shop that makes our products and have them make a small run of the correct seat lock screw. This will take a few weeks before we get the screws but as soon as we do, we will send you the correct screw at no cost."

So in a few weeks this product is going to be available and for R18!

Reverse Gear Extension for BMW R18B and R18 Transcontinental ( have in mind some of the other R18 family have a shorter lever ) for me is all the money ( I am a fat bastard and is to low for me )! My only mistake which I did is, I order a black one where tho OEM it was chrome
20251130_121810.jpg

In photos how ever you are going to see is one of the screws which I change because it was shorter and it was not increasing any pressure!
20251121_111304.jpg20251121_111343.jpg20251121_112237.jpg

so I think I will order another one in chrome!

The early R18 model years have the short lever. I think per m.y. ´22 the longer.

The grub screws are ok. They have two diffrent lengths and may or may not be in the correct hole.

Some covers for the pistons heads from the far east country of China. Plastic "protection" of course with the defects and gaps which they have!

20251120_094046.jpg20251120_094008.jpg20251120_094017.jpg20251120_101925.jpg20251120_101920.jpg
and this is how they are looking on!
20251121_104323.jpg20251122_093500.jpg
I will leave them for the time been and I will see later about! How ever I will not pay the grand total which others are asking!

I the two under they was fine.

Thanks for the updates. I also ordered the large power bronze windshield but haven’t received it yet. I was able to find a new bmw high comfort seat new off eBay for 500 bucks and it feels great compared to the stock B seat. I have riden for over 60 years and have never worried about some one stealing my seat but will look into that lock. Keep posting your upgrades.

Well is not so much about stealing, is more to not get to you electrical cables so easy you know! Is a little bit about delaying for much you can a future stealing because the "smart guys" are a step forward, so your chance to stop this is only the time!

Good evening, one more update about the fog lights which I installed. 7. One more suggestion I will say, change and the STUPID short positive battery cable ( for me is one of my priority now in the future or with the first chance! I all ready order one to be ready for! )Me I order this one
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DXP6W39D?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Now about the installation, it was all about to found a place, a connection for the ACC ( Blue wire ) and I fund it on Fuse3 15A(Optional accessories, radio, top case lighting) and use the Piggy Back Fuse Connectors 12v
20251130_115944.jpg
Positive and Negative from Battery, not a permanent but a temporary solution for the reason mentioned above and also for recharging my battery. Here when I made the connections I found my self quite in difficult situation with that positive cable until I manage to put him back!

20251130_125705.jpg
So here I connect one of the SAE Connector Motorcycle Battery Charger and in this way no one can say anything about this ones on any dealer!
20251201_122857.jpg20251201_123134.jpg
The second SAE Connector Motorcycle Battery Charger I connected to the wireless cable, but have in mind the colors are not going to be the same any more so black is going on red from battery, how ever I keep the positive to be the same on wireless cable
20251201_135851.jpg
Now here when I installed the lights I observe every time it was starting with the high beam, which I do not want and I need the DRL ( Day Running Lights), so I change the Blue high beam wire from the image to yellow so in this way every time when I am turning on the DRL are first!

Sorry, so I am continuing the previous ...

20251201_140709.jpg20251201_140722.jpg
So now the lights are looking like this
20251201_161607.jpg20251201_161617.jpg20251201_161636.jpg20251201_161653.jpg

To not forget, to restrain and put the screw in place on the housing, I used a zip tie like this ...

20251201_143051.jpg
And now a short video about and on the end how they are turning off, because of ACC wire on Fuse3 15A(Optional accessories, radio, top case lighting)

Have in mind again, everything is temporary and today I did not even put the cable in place ( it was all ready to late ).

Do any one know a more, I will say "elegant "way then zip-ties!
View attachment 19693

I am sure someone does.
The sovjet era Ural/Dnepr bikes came with übercool métal cable ties. I think the German suppliers may very well still have them. Thumbs up to you for reminding me. I will have a look and give a heads up if they do. They are so much nicer than the plastic zip things.

Wow that was simple and fast; no that is a thing of the previous century and long since out of production.

There are however modern, higher tech solutions in rvs!!
Here a supplier located on the British islands:
