wish I could replace the tft instead of this but seems like a pretty good solution.

*** Update***

Just ordered the package with the front and rear cameras. I will post some pictures and thoughts after i get it installed. With tax it was $430.50

***Update 2****

Installed the device. Super easy. Took maybe thirty minutes. Did not install the cameras yet because that will probably take me a few hours and I wanted watch the NFL draft. Pictures attached!

Thanks for sharing this, hope you like it! The bike in the video is from just south of you in Fredericksburg.

We'll have our audio upgrades posted up hopefully in a couple days. Shooting the last piece of video tomorrow morning.

If anyone from the UK or elsewhere with no SiriusXM available, we'd REALLY like to have someone pull that top piece off and send us a picture. We'd love to see if our option could be done on the bikes without that plate cover being there.

I agree that the nav should, and could, be better than it is. That being said, I've run my TC from western Pennsylvania to Maine's east coast, and to North Carolina's Outer Banks, all told about 7,000 miles, using the onboard BMW app connected to my phone. It's been fine as long as I have cell service, which is a real limitation but not a show-stopper for me. Of course, the Garmin Nuvi on my 1150 GS is much better, but I haven't found it to be necessary to switch it to the TC.

Yeah I have always hated the bmw navigation after it screwed up on me twice, so I would use my phone to run my maps but i had set up a wireless charger and anytime it was over 90 degrees my phone would stop charging. My hope is that running the maps and music off the android auto device will resolve this issue. Still using the phone as the computer but the display is moved. I've just found the bmw navigation untenable as it doesn't reroute very well and the menus are a pain. Also you have to download all the maps when you enter a new state.

Just curious, is your phone Android or Apple? Apple devices seem to have more issues with the BMW Connected App connecting to the bike's WiFi. Also, if you've downloaded maps to the Connected App on your phone, you won't need cell service for navigation.

Android. Re on the impact of losing cell service, thanks for the correction. I do download the maps to my phone. It's been a long winter and I've probably mis-remembered what causes the nav to occasionally stop. I'll have to check if that's been the issue or if it's been another cause, such as something causing my phone to switch to a different function or app. Maybe it was sometbing like getting a phone call while using the nav. Riding season is finally here and I'll see if I can determine what's happening.

Have you ridden the bike yet with the CarPlay screen on, and does the screen shake much? And if you listen to SiriusXM, is the reception still good? You should still be able to test that out even if you don’t subscribe to it.
Let us know, thanks!

Yeah I've ridden quite a bit. Not much shake. I think its pretty negligible. The device is firmly place in there so it shakes at the same levels that the rest of the bike shakes.

I am 6 foot 1. If I slouch its a little in my line of sight but I consider its a good thing because I consider slouching a bad habit of mine.

I have not tried Sirius XM. TBH, I didn't know our bikes had it. The wonder wheel works great with the device.

It takes a minute for android auto to get started but when it does start if you go to the music menu on the TFT the music will start automatically rather than having to hit play. Which I guess is one less step to do. You still got use the button to move down the to the music menu.

The maps were a little bright so i switched to it to night mode. It was in automatic mode already but I don't think it has a sensor to see day or night outside because it was pretty dark out already and the maps where still in daylight mode. I prefer night mode anyways.

I have android by the way

Give SiriusXM - you should still be able to hear something even though you’re not subscribed.
