This is my new BMW R18. I have had a bike license since 2018. My first bike was a Honda CBR650, followed by a Ducati Multistrada.

Only went into the dealer as had some time to kill. The deal on this bike was too good to miss.

Apparently it’s a rare colour.

Being delivered on Tuesday. I think I will add a screen, side mounted number plate and some panniers.

Mike

Is that the mars red metallic? Saw one in a showroom, pictures don’t do it justice. Have to say bmw knocked it out of the park with some of their paints. Congrats.
I’m not sure as ive not seen the spec sheet yet. When i. Get my hands on it ill share it.

Welcome aboard Mike and congratulations on your new bike. She is a beauty. Where about in Essex are you?
I am based in Langdon Hills, near Basildon.
Not many R18s around, which makes them a rare unicorn.

Congratulations on the new bike & welcome aboard the forum... lots of good information here, as you become familiar with the new R18...

I understand the rear shock should be adjusted as a first step, based on your weight and apparently dealerships aren't real diligent in adjusting the suspension from the setting used for shipping & transportation of new bikes.

Im in saffron walden! Are there any meetups you know of?

Ahhh, not far. In terms of R18 owners meet up, there are none as far as I am aware since all owners are normally scattered over distances.
I normally go for a ride with other non R18 buddies from time to time. Finchingfield, not far from you, usually yields lots of bikers on Sundays, extremely busy over the spring and summer months. I also love the Bikeshed in London on a Sunday morning (11:00am ) for a coffee and pastry or a pint of real ale and a steak on ciabatta. Other than that, sometimes we just go for a cruise and stop over at any known cafes.

If you fancy going for a ride one day, give me a bell and we meet at a mid point and go from there.
So far we have planned a ride to the White Horse Custom Motorcycle Show on April 13th just outside Sudbury in Suffolk and the Bikeshed London Motor Show on May 25th.

For both rides I am meeting other buddies at mid points and continuing to the destination together.

No worries. If you want we can meet up at Braintree BP garage or something, otherwise I would probably see you at the event . My bike is a white and grey Bagger and my best buddy rides a black Shadow 900.
