Orange Triangle on Speedo Screen

R18 Anniversary Edition
While commuting to work, an orange triangle popped up on the screen and remains there.
Have heard about a tool known as GS 911. Is this a must have? Where to buy?
Am looking at a 180 mile trip to the dealership Saturday.
 
It's likely your "service is due soon" light.

I have the same on mine, which I'll be using my GS911 to reset shortly. For me, the service reset is the only option I can't do on my phone, as it needs an active internet connection while doing the reset. Connecting the GS911 to the laptop via USB and then internet via WiFi is how I reset mine.

Hands down...!!! Every BMW owner, who performs their own Annual Maintenance (oil/oil filter change), should own a GS-911 OBD-II HEX tool... In most cases, it pays for itself, after what would have been 1 or 2+ trips to your BMW service shop...

I have one... Changed my life... Definitely improved my self maintenance capabilities..
 
Hhmmmm, would probably be a better purchase for me than buying 'another' pew pew. But it's like many of our, ahem, 'affordable' pleasures: n+1=enough.

Recenlty bouhgt a GS-911 for may R18 salvage project. Probably used it 6 times to read codes - kickstand sensor disconnect, coil wire duisconnect, etc. Easily saved me $400 so far. I regret not understanding the different adapters though. I bought one with the older round adapter vs the ODBC. Then I had to order the adapter cable. WiFi is a nice option.

I reset my "service is due soon" light using the bluetooth adapter "OBDLink LX" ($90) together with "MotoScan" app for Android. MotoScan App is free to download however you need to purchase an advanced feature ($26) in MotoScan to allow service light reset. I attempted to program a higher top speed limit (stock limit is 113 MPH) however an additional advanced feature purchase is necessary to perform that programming.
The standard automotive-style OBDII port on my 2024 Roctane is located under left side body panel.

@tngarren - any chance, did you log the fault codes for the various repairs that you made on your salvage project; if so, can you post them so that we can start to compile a list of associated fault codes, matched with an appropriate fix?

I have not heard of the coil wire disconnect. What is that?
 
Yes, I'd recommend a GS911 too. I orignally got one for my K1200 GT and then used it when I got the K1300 GT - super useful. Did an upgrade to the newer wifi version (with the newer connector) when I got the Transcontinental. Basically a diagnostic and electronic resetting tool. Its part of my long distance tool kit. There are other proprietary analogues, generally cheaper, if money is the thing. I like the 911 as it works and is tough - haven't been able to break one yet. I think the Hex GS911 used to work with iphones and the others with android devices, but I think that has largely fallen away and the 911 works with all devices (but not sure about this as I have an iphone).

I agree with all the above ... and it does work with IOS or Android ... actually a bit better with Windows and/or Android than Mac OS and/or IOS ... just to throw in my 2¢ ;)

Ignition coil wires going to the plugs. The top coil fires the cylinder for power. The bottom coil fires for emission reduction. The bike will run normally with a fault on the bottom coil. It will throw a code.
