In this photo you can see that it has creeped under the outer plating. That i also think is due to moisture. But it is weird that that can happen so quickely
The photo indicates a manufacturing process gone wrong and should not have passed quality control.
And why should you replace it , BMW should have a solution for this and many other issues on the R 18.

Yes, im having it in my schedule. But that is in april (personal reasons).

If the bike is only two years old, have you tried to get new ones under warranty? In the US it's 36,000 miles or 3 years, whichever comes first.

Yes, they agreed to replace it. But I'm afraid that the same oxidation will happen within two years.

It probably will happen again with you living near the ocean and storing the R18 outside covered. Electrolysis is working against you.

That is indeed a possibility but you can minimise the chances by ensuring the bike is kept protected as much as possible. Wash the bike with cold water (never warm or hot when salt is present) dry it thoroughly and then apply a decent amount of ACF-50 everywhere, except exhaust and brake discs.
Leave it overnight if you can and the following day lightly mop any excess with a clean rag or towel.
I have been using this product for years and it has always delivered. If it is good enough for the USAF on the plane carriers, it is good enough for me.

Hello, I've got an update.

I've bought blanks on aliexpress (tip from @enzo5000 ) and engraved them at home with "1.8 L". Only thing left is to spray it with boeing T9 (@skidward ). Thanks for the tips!
