R Series diagnostic computer woes

22 R18 Tourer, 2012 Ural outfit
I went to book my R18c in for its 1000km check but the dealer asked if I could hold off for a while. He says the BMW main computer is causing more trouble with the screens on ALL R series bikes than the updates are worth at the moment. He says they can do the service but it would need to come back when BMW have it sorted again. They're 250km away and not in a direction I'd go for a ride.

Anyone know anything about this?
