R18 Classic 2022
So I know this topic has been covered in several threads, and I didn’t know which one to follow up on so instead I started a new thread. Sorry for that.
Perhaps the threads concerning this topic could be collected somewhere for future easy reference?

Anyway to the discussion.
I’m about 6ft (183cm) tall, sitting on the fastback seat but the standard seat was the same in this regard.
I ride with a jet helmet so no chin guard.
I felt buffeting at most medium to higher speeds.

I tried the touratech add on little Perspex deflector which sadly didn’t help any and it looked somewhat out of place to me. I decided to get rid of it.

Removing the screen altogether changed the dynamics and I was then left with a more even flow of wind, but of course less protection. I also think the Classic looks good with a screen, to me it looks like something missing when it’s gone.

I have now purchased the lowest screen from BMW. I believe the standard classic screen is the tallest.
And I can honestly say I think it provides better wind protection as the buffeting is greatly reduced if not completely gone to me. At the same time the bike looks balanced with a screen in place and looks cool with a more sporty screen. See what you think.

So in summary. This long winded description actually suggests you try out a shorter screen if you suffer from these issues.

Best regards and ride safe (when spring comes😉)

I'm 5'-7" (170cm) and the wind noise with the stock screen is unbearable. I have to wear earplugs if I plan on grinding faster than 40mph for any length of time. If I stand up on the footboards and get above the windscreen, the noise goes down to almost nothing. I wear an Arai Signet-X. I have removed the windscreen and there is still a considerable amount of noise but not nearly as much as when it's on. So I'm in a bit of a quandary as to what to do.

Well, seeing as your issue resolves when you stand up, maybe a shorter screen would work for you?

Wind noise is also attributed to your helmet , i changed my helmet which definately helped , do not forget you get a lot of "up" turbulence from the cylinder area as well on the R18 , guys on the forum have fitted fork deflectors which they state helps as well .

The fork deflectors are not only a world changer, but less than $100 total cost.
I had updraft so severe my 3/4 helmet would open up.
Now I actually have ZERO updraft.

Do you have a picture of the side of the bike? I'm curious to see the height relation in comparison to the cylinder heads.

It is like 5 degrees outside and salt everywhere. Will not be able to ride it until March, most likely.
Yup same here ... high 20s in the morning (@-3ºC) ... too cold to ride to work .. it gets up to @ 50 in the day (@10ºC) and I can take her out for a quick put put ;) I am sure the deflectors will make a difference !

Reedman71, after taking a 2nd look from the front I think your lowers might be a tad higher than mine. Not saying it is a problem, but they can be adjusted rather easily up or down.
