R18 1st Edition
Hello all, the seat on this bike is a constant reminder about uncomfortable. I purchased a Mustang solo seat from BMW but it is worse as it pushes your arse more forward which makes one lean back instead of sitting upright. I am currently back with the original seat. I saw and got a quote from BMW for a "High seat" option. Anyone here actually using this seat? How much higher than standard is it, my main problem is the height, I just want to drop my knees down a bit. Currently I have two options, modify the Mustang seat and re cover or take a chance and order the High seat from BMW. I would prefer the high seat as I know the bike will remain original and the pillion seat will fit but I am scared of wasting more money again. Attached pic is the Mustang solo seat.

As far as I know the “high” seat is the seat that is fitted to the R18 Classic. When I compared my bike with the R18 next to it when I bought it I found you sit about 20mm higher but in the same position. Normally you find a few R18 Classic seats on eBay which should work out cheaper than buying a new one.
As to the pillion seat fitting, I am not sure on that one, the pillion for the Classic is a different part number as where the two meet is a different angle but others may have tried a direct swap and may know more.
I found the Classic seat was good for me for about 90 mins.

Think I'm going to sacrifice the Mustang seat and have it tailored to suit my requirement, most likely going to cost half the price of the high seat ( which I would be taking a chance with),

I have just ordered a used standard custom seat and going to take that to a local upholstery guy and have him work some magic. will then have the stock and modified to compare back to back. had looked at a lot of the different options and did not want to be pushed forward. I had tried a back rest from RoadStyler but returned it as it pushed me too far forward and impacted my whole riding position.
I also have the pillion seat from Wunderlich as the wife and daughter both complained about the comfort of the standard pillion seat so need to keep the rider seat the same where they meet.

If you still have the original maybe start there?
