Fits similar to AGV but tighter in cheeks. Amazing build. Very light.

/haven't had that saddle...or those saddle bags...or that tshirt...or that house for a while 🥹

I considered the Hedon helmet but decided on the Arai X4 for several reasons.
1. Retro helmets by virtue of their design, not likely to provide the same protection
2. Hedon are a niche manufacturer who will not have the technology of the big manufacturers
3. The Arai X4 can be used with / without visor, with goggles, with / without peak. It also comes with an excellent rep and has been around a long time.

Has anyone tried Hedon helmets on r18? BMW Grand racer seems to be Hedon Heroine.
I’d looked at them. I have a Biltwell Gringo I’d gotten for my /5, but I rarely use it. Retro style helmets don’t have the comfort, nor the safety.

My compromise is I use an Arai Defiant X. It is a bit retro looking, but has all the comfort and safety Arai is known for.

I had not changed my helmet for ten years. The Arai I purchased feels a world apart from my previous Nolan. I know that Nolan are a great make so not criticising them, just the fact helmets seem to have improved so much in that time.

Arai is also a brand that if it fits your head, you‘ll stick with it for life. I also had a couple XD-4 like yours I used with my GS for technical off-road, but my most recent hit the 5 year mark last year so it’s been retired and I’ll get another likely next year. I’m using the R18 so much this year, the technical dirt on the GS isn’t happening, so I can wait a year.

If your Nolan was 10 years old when you switched it out, it could also have been fairly worn out and looser fitting both on the EPS and the liner, which could account for the different feeling.

I just got the HJC IS-5 Equinox, it does not fit me as I would like it but the price, the looks of it and the insert screen are my thing. The paint oh my, gorgeously sparkly two-color combination (black and dark grey) with discreet polished-aluminum-styled accent lines pairs beautifully with the bike!

If you are looking for a helmet that will not break you bank (and will not leave you crying if stolen), give it a try.

I have tried to get the pictures reflect the most accurate to reality. Capturing a highly reflecting black surface is always challenging…

I am a GS rider by nature and have worn the Arai X4. Best helmet and best company to deal with ever! Before he retired if he was at a show, Bruce Porter would stop everything to custom fit a hard to fit rider (like me) Their passion for their product is amazing; Porter could measure your head within a centimeter by looking at it. half the weight, better protection and a sun visor, which is brilliant but I dont use it on the R18 :). The visor is like a sail on my head at 90MPH with no windshield.
