R20 almost prod ready it seems

My understanding is that the R18 is being discontinued because it won’t pass the next lot of Euro Emission laws… What will be different on the 20?
 
Having seen that picture I am wondering if it is more sports focussed and a larger capacity R9t. It seems to have a digital dash and as mentioned a short wheel base. BMW seem to have taken the move to make everything smaller and or more sport’s biased, take the R1300 range (excluding the GSA) all more sports biased. Time will tell but I am hoping they break that trend with this launch.
 
As to the R20 I have the questions why, for whom? Nor do I understand the marketing as it shoots in the tyres of the R18 even though that is a different concept.

I think @Noelpolar hits it on the nail with his mentioning the wheel base. The R18 engine is VERY heavy with an exaggerated torque response. Now add móre of same; heavier, more torque response, in a shorter chassis with more ground clearance.
 
If this is true, then could someone please explain why they stopped producing the R18 as a real cruiser… makes no sense.

It is just about revenue. Hence the R18 was a WOW 🤩 and imo as much a brand marketing model. A heritage thing for some of the older brass in the company.

The R18 in whichever guise will stay as long as it sells stock.
The turn over speed and the prices though only make selling off what is in the pipeline viable. Cannot see the R20 coming.
