Radial front, bias rear tire

R18 Classic
Just curious, I've seen a couple of general comments about mixing tire types on motorcycles in general. One said that you can't mix them, another said if you do, the radial has to be the rear tire. On the R18 it's the opposite. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thank you.
 
Gold wing guys use radial on the front and no rear radial available.
I got 9,000 miles out of my front tire. Replacing it with same tire.
