I have been referred on this site by member Roddy2022 to a seller email address [email protected] which shows up as Surry B65 on the address line in a return email. They have the part I want and I would like to verify the authenticity of the seller and member, or report a scam depending on the response I get here. Anyone that has experience with the seller or them member please let me know. Thank you in advance.

I can't help with your question but I can suggest something I've been doing for a while and that's to ask for a picture of the part you want with a piece of paper on it with your member name and the date on it (or some other text you choose).

That way you know he's got the part and it's not some random internet pic.

Also, pay with PayPal so you're protected.

how long has he been a member? like previous reply says. send a pic with info on paper in pic, use paypal "goods and services" only, not "friends and family". scammers usually run away from those requests.

Well I followed the advise listed in this thread requesting for a picture with a note showing my member name and today’s date and I have been ghosted ever since. So a warning to all that these members are most likely scammers trying to steal from us. Admin please look into this. This is the private message I got.

oddy2022 has sent you a direct message at BMW R18 Motorcycle Forum.

WTB RSD Cylinder Head Trim

You can check on @1911tex I haven't seen him on here for couple of days. You can reach him via email- [email protected] ,he has a few of them, plus he's a dealer...straight up Great Guy!!

@R2K.
Thank you for posting this and making everyone aware. Hopefully the scum bag will be flushed out and sends a direct message to all scammers out there. When folks have something in common, mainly passion or hobbies, scammers use that as a point of entry/weak link to wiggle their way in and gain your trust, before going for the kill. Sadly some fall for it and others, like yourself are old enough (no offence intended) to know that when something looks too good to be true it is likely that, not true at all. LBV suggestion was spot on. Always always used PayPal to part with your money, forget about sentiments of goodwill or sweet talk about the many reasons why the seller would like another payment method. He (the scammer) will be back under a different name, to the rest of the forum, stay alert.

Guys do not purchase anything from anyone through any other method other than PayPal do not use direct deposit or interact or anything like that and most real sellers don’t send secret messages through private messaging telling you they have something for sale. They would list it in the for sale forum that in itself is an immediate red flag. If anybody is showing signs of being a scammer and ghosting you after requesting things like a picture of the product with a piece of paper and your username send me their username and they will be banned immediately. Unfortunately, there’s no way to block all these POS‘s because it would block legitimate members we just have to be vigilant
