Question if anyone knows.....

I was notified that the reverse fix on my 2023 Ann. model was in sock, so just make an appointment and they will take care of it.
My bike is remapped. I spent $1000 for the product (brentune) and $300 to transport the bike bake and forth to a shop here in LA to install it. I can't do it, I have no idea how.....

If I take my bike in to fix the reverse, will they discover and or remove the remap by resetting the bike back to it's original program?

Thanks. If anyone knows.....

Good Morning, here in Germany it is a official recall from the KBA (authority) and you have to follow. I don’t know how it is in the USA.

Thanks. I don't use the reverse. Is there any problem if I leave the bike as is and don't fix the reverse issue?
Probably not because I don’t recall anyone on the forum reporting anything untoward (i.e. bike catching fire) or reading about it anywhere in any article and I’m sure we would have heard of it by now. Guess it’s personal choice and how risk averse you are. A Recall is fairly common across all brands for one thing or the other but it is by default something of significance, otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it. 🤷‍♂️. I have to use my reverse every time I pull my bike out of the garage (across gravel) so for me it was essential.

The recall is due to a concern about the ingress of water into the reverse module and onto the wiring that may, over time corrode connections resulting in failure. Supposedly there’s some risk of fire here. I haven’t come across a single case of anyone experiencing an issue, so it’s a wonder BMW even made the recall.

With that, you’re probably good to keep the thing as it stands. The fix is that they replace the wiring with another wiring run that includes an in-line breaker. If you’re not in rain much and you store in a garage, you’re probably never gonna have a problem.

The BrenTune issue is that you need to revert the bike to the stock map before taking it in (for a recall or any service, as the shop might run an update for whatever reason). Once the bike comes back from BMW, you have to have BT adjust the updated BMW software, which will cost you $200.

No way around this for the recall work, as it requires an update. And if you’re not someone who can run the update yourself, then you’ve got even more reason to disregard the recall.
