Welcome
Absolutely beautiful part of Spain. When I visited in the past I missed having a bike to cruise the area.
Maybe one day.

Thanks guys.

As observed I live in the mountainous heartland of the southermost province and it indeed is a joy, a priviledge. More so because governments have used EU subsidies for infrastructure very véry well. Bar exceptions the roadwork is well maintained. There are highways and provincial roads for gobbling up distances but the network of interior roads is :love:

The plan is to hop on the R18 with charming company on the pillion, strap a 40l. bag on the luggage rack and ride off into the interior. We will see where we go, ask about overnight lodgings when we feel like it. Maybe even cross the river Tago into Portugal via a ferry or local bridge. Btw not using GPS but old skool Michelin road map and asking locals (y)
If all goes to plan it will be the week of 28 July. It is an anticipated honeymoon as we marry on the 12th of August. If we don´t kill eachother on the trip :giggle:

Photos will follow.

Yesterday we went for a nice ride.
In the evening a chat with a friend who is rather enthused about the wedding.
So charming tells about us also dropping by a shop to buy her new gloves...
´Ah yes, elegant gloves for the wedding!!´ says the friend beaming.
"NOOOO! " Says my charming; "For the motorbike ofcourse."
(y)(y)

Have ordered two more small ramps to bolt down in front of the garage: There is a 7 cm. ridge to the terrace. The single ramp is wide enough but I need to angle just right. Best double the width 🥵

Yes I know; one plus two is triple but will bolt down only one. The other is for the Nimbus sidecar. It rolls up easily enough but when ordering more, a third is peanuts. I will put that down when needed.

and the obligatory photo; this morning just before leaving:
Any of the died in the wool members here can tell me if the seat and buddy are standard? Neither me nor charming would call them hard nor uncomfortable. For me (183 cm) the seat is a bit low but that´s it.

On a trip through andalucía.
Antequera, Estepa, Ecija, now Palma del Rio.
Quite some challenging village passages like very dirty worn cobblestone cramped roundabouts with locals coming from/going to anywhichway without indicating.
Despite two up with some luggage on the rack, the R18 does (y)

Palma del Rio. In front of the sun entrance of the walled inner city. This entrance is part of the Alcazaba Almohades c. XI- XII. Ergo half a century before Columbus setting sail to the west to get to the east.
The palace inside the walls was the site of ´Kingdom of Heaven´ by Ridley Schott.

Lamborghini ring a bell with anyone?

Signore Lamborghini was rather a fan of Spanish fighting bulls, hence the logo.
It goes further with his first supercar:

dubbed the Miura, which is the most famous breeder/breed:

Next a castle founded in 711. Yes, no typo; the year 711.
Could only get up to above the hamlet at the base as on the access path to the fuerte, the rear will lacked traction. We walked up
Riding the R16 down was unfun btw.

Busy day. Early on the road and visit an old iron mine de La Joyona. Wellcome hours in the cool of the mountains entrails.
Next navigated windy single track with gravel section to Ermita de la Virgen de Ara. Stunning chapel.
Then to the roman city of Turdulorum. Jaw dropping.
Checked into the rural hotel in old long time abandoned La Fabrica de harina de sémola in Llerena.
Visited town center and the city arqueological museum housed in a stunning mudejar style palace which was built in the 12t c. by the order of Santiago Matamoros. Those religeous fanatics founded the infamous Spanish inquisition there.
Much of the original wall painting have been recoverd/restored and are again stunning. Share a photo of the Santiago cross as it is the symbol of religeous fanatism; réal from the very origins of the inquisition.
Tonight rumbling back to the roman city for a midnight actuation under the stars of the NÓ light pollution Extramadura skies in the roman theatre.

...and back home.
Not US distances but neither US roads ;)
756 kms of mountain twisties of which it did >22 per liter (52 miles per US gallon).

Two observations.
- BMW should imo have opted for 4 gears only
- all of the rolling chassis is immensely stiff; from from handlebars to rims: even over the long wheelbase between front and rear tyre
